My daughters school is the only school in Cornwall to strike, all teachers bar the Head and the Deputy Head are NUT members.

Information is sketchy to say the least, we were informed last week by text message followed by a letter from the Governors. The letter said most classes were covered last week, my daughters was due to her class being covered by a supply teacher due to her teacher having been involved in an accident the week before.

Next week the teachers are expected to strike on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Have also received another text stating that teachers are also striking the following week on the same days again.

Feel sorry for working parents trying to organise childcare around all this.

But, in amongst all this I can't help but wonder what the hell is going on at this once lovely little school that was so relaxed it was wonderful. Glad my daughter is in her final year and it's not a place I will be sending my youngest under the current headship that's for sure. Beginning to think this is what is actually at the centre of this dispute.

The National Union of Teachers did years ago, yes, NUT History.

Does seem a silly name though hey

Here teachers have unions also, but expect things to change as we go to a national curriculum. We have walk through observations weekly, or more. Formal observations are twice a year. I just always expect at anytime someone can come walking through my class, and why not? I should be on task with my teaching, as well as the students at learning.

Acas have been in talks with the NUT members today, just had a text to say children to return to school tomorrow.

Sense at last - talk about it amongst yourselves, don't make the children suffer.
