Good luck on quitting smoking DG, oh and remember that I'm sure you will face many ordeals on your journey, but remember to keep standing strong and believing that u will quit no matter what!!

That Vivid Dream thing is actually on the box and in the information packet. I started with Step 2 because I am considered a "Light Smoker" (I guess).
Oh...and here is the problem with Beef Jerky (and the biggest reason I have to quit), I just had SRP and Arestin injections in my teeth/gums. I have severe gum disease (Im only 28). I read smoking causes this treatment to be non effective. Well, insurance doesnt cover it and I am NOT paying $ 90 per tooth and it not work. Also, I have to get root canal, crown, three wisdom teeth taken out......as you guys have probably guessed: I HAVE NOT BEEN TO THE DENTIST IN 8 YEARS! Its my own fault, you know? Anyway, maybe sucking on soup won't be so bad. AND I really dont want to die of lung cancer, AND I want to have a baby so all of these thoughts just kept snowballing and today I was like WTF? DO IT NOW! Do it while you only smoke less than 10 cigs a day!

This is so weird...I asked for the patch for my birthday which is tomorrow. I fully expect Bullet will be getting it for me, as he's ALWAYS on my ass about quitting. Maybe we can be a mutual support team!
[FONT=Arial Black]I hope you cherish this sweet way of life, and I hope you know that it comes with a price.

DG...I quit smoking for 20 weeks from April this year...I had the support of the practise nurse at my doctors and used patches and gum.. You only get the support for 12 weeks and I am devastated to say I've started smoking again....I hate myself for it and i think it would be a great idea if we used FG as for support for each other. I must give up for health reasons...I desperately need help. anyway....good luck to you....There was a similar thread a couple of weeks ago...I'll have a search because there were some good tips there.

Wish me luck!:guitaristGood luck.. I quit for real and for always several months ago... I quit once before for 7 years.. this time is for life.. really.
What I discovered... If you can get thru your WORST day... the day that you want to die... or drink or smoke or do drugs... to stop the pain... if you can get thru THAT day... without the smoking... you are cured.
Unfortunately, I had to take that test... fortunately I passed. The knowing is good...
Good luck and God Bless...

Damn, Bez...don't hate yourself for it!! I've tried soooo many times to quit, but never tried the patch. I actually want to quit now, which is the key, from what I understand. I'm with ya' for the support, I know I'm going to need it!!
One thing about me is, I'm highly competitive. I plan on picturing a just-lit ciggie dancing around in front of me chanting: "I win!! I win!!" and that will p!ss me off enough to want to kick it's ass. I hope. :yh_nailbi

1. Get dressed.
2. Find the keys.
3. Walk to the car.
4. Enter the car.
5. Start the car.
6. Leave the house.
7. Drive to the store (numerous substeps involved here).
8. Park the car.
9. Get out of the car.
10. Enter the store.
11. Approach the cashier.
12. Take a breath of sweet, clean, nicotine-free air.
13. Ask for a pack of cigarettes.
14. Pay for the cigarettes (possible substeps here).
15. Exit the store.
16. Tamp the pack (we used to call it 'pack' but I'm trying to avoid confusion).
17. Open the pack (several substeps here).
18. Remove a cigarette.
19. Place the cigarette in the mouth.
20. Find fire (undoubtedly many substeps involved).
21. Light the cigarette.
Every one of these steps and substeps involved a decision toward behavior. Each of these decisions is an opportunity to behave differently.
Smoking is a decision to behave. Stopping smoking is likewise a decision to behave. It's not an easy decision, but the responsibility lies completely and absolutely with the individual - no one else.

One person showed me a website once that helped youwith "steps." Ill look for it. Wha I remember most is being aware of your triggers... WHEN do you lite up? Set yourself up for success... Remove the cigarrettes... replace it with something else... My trigger was the car... as soon as I clicked that seatbelt.. I lit up.. ironic huh? So I started putting gum, candy or soda THERE... right in the way of the ashtray/lighter... just supplement the behavior... then worry about cutting back on the sodas and candy later
Also--- it only takes 21 days to start a new habit. Make it a good one.

Hello! I am happy for you! Just do it, I will not tell it is going to be hard, it was for me! The best way is to stop immediately...if you can?1?, wait and see, believe in yourself!
If you need help try anything but not absolutly anything with nicotine, like patches, gums, inhalers....or, try and see!
I quit after only four months without carvings...or just mild, bearable!. Go to www.adrianaco.com and see what I have used! Increadible Thing! ChipCard! Put it in your pack and...that's all! Last for ever and saving your health /and money while you trying to smoke and you will smoke less! Takes times, few months for me but I do not smoke for the last 5 weeks. And I will not! I do not want to touch cigarettes any more! If I did and my father everybody can! Let me know if you try!
Best wishes and good luck!:)

Here's something not many people know. In January, I attended the NHS stop smoking group. They told us that in each cigarette there are 4000 chemicals. These chemicals are put in by the tobacco manufactureres with the sole purpose of addicting us and keeping us addicted. These chemicals, I will not name them here now cos my memory isn't working, are things that we would never agree to absorbing if we knew about them. Literally, you would shudder if you knew.
I think that there's enough of us to start at least a petition if not a worldwide litigation against these soul sucking bastards. Any views here.

Smoking is a choice. It's a choice I made, it's a choice all smokers make. To go after tobacco companies for producing a product that we all know causes harmful effects is rather silly, IMO. I have a hard time feeling sorry for anyone who sues tobacco companies because they got emphysema, or lung cancer. We knew, when we started smoking that these were all possibilities, yet we did it anyway. No one forced us to smoke, no one forced us to continue. Free will....ain't it a bitch?
I am about to enter my 2nd hour as an ex-smoker. I've got the 21mg Nicoderm CQ patch on my arm, (thanks Bullet!!) and I'm sitting here with my morning coffee, without a cigarette. It sucks. The craving isn't too bad, but it is there. I can see myself getting real crabby before I am done. According to the "plan" they've enclosed, I should be done on Christmas Eve. My mom is going to be thrilled.
Bullet got up in the middle of the night, washed and hid all the ashtrays, and also hid the few cigarettes I had left. He's bound and determined to help me kick this nasty f**king habit, and I'm glad for it. I'm gonna need all the help I can get!!
How's everyone else doing??
