I'm not happy with this. Either we have an extradition treaty with the USA or we don't and there should be no grey area.

We bitterly complain when the likes of Hamza or Abu Qatada appeal time and time again exploiting the EU courts of HR's yet we feel a sense of Nationalism when they happen to be British.

I think It sets a precedent and makes a mockery of the treaty with the USA.

Theresa May blocked his extradition for fear he will be treated Inhumanly or be subjected to degrading treatment along with the fear of him committing suicide.... sorry but him and his family didn't think of that when he committed the crime..... hypocrisy that makes a mockery of our Government,

Maybe if we had a fully reciprocal extradition treaty with the USA then you could expect consistent decisions to be made.

As it is the treaty is a mockery - effectively we don't have an extradition treaty with the USA, they have one with us.

I don't know why anyone would put up with that arrangement, except that your government seems to like to pick and choose who they want to prosecute.

Apparently, if they are enough of a real threat, toss them to the Americans and let them deal with it.

Well, no thanks. If it's not a specific crime against a specific person, you just keep them.:-6

I agree we don't always have a fully reciprocal extradition treaty but what Theresa May is doing, Is picking and choosing who to extradite and this refusal may make It far more difficult for our system to carry out future extraditions when It concerns those who the country really wants rid of as threats to national Security. I believe she Is jeopardising the entire process.

I don't like emotional blackmail. If he's clever enough to hack Into the US military system then surely he's fit to stand trial? He may not be a threat to British National Security as Hamza was but he was a threat to US National Security and he committed crimes against America.

In my opinion, the High Court should have ruled on extradition as was Hamza, not Theresa May.

All this nonsense that the decision Is based on his human rights.... For goodness sake... It's America, not Jordan where he's likely to be tortured.

several things, he has not been convicted of any crime, if he did hack in to the pentagon systems then maybe they should employ him as a security consultant, the odds of him getting a fair trial in the states are pretty remote and the United States does torture terrorist suspects and is quite open about it.

Of course he's not been convicted of any crime.... here !!! ... But he has committed crimes against America and he should stand trial for those crimes. That's like saying a drug smuggler shouldn't stand trial In Thailand because he hasn't been committed of any offence here.

If you get caught smuggling heroin Into Thailand, you know you could get the death penalty.... he has committed crimes against another country and to not answer to that country Is a cop out. What's the old saying? ' If you can't do the time, don't do the crime'... he may have been looking for aliens but he knew exactly what he was doing.

Under the extradition treaty the americans are not obliged to give any evidence merely make the request.

BBC News - Bo'ness couple lose crystal meth extradition appeal

The case falls under the 2003 Extradition Act which allows the extradition of people to the US without any trial taking place in the UK, removing the need for US authorities to provide prima facie evidence of criminality.

Two points, they did not break UK law and to export they had a licence from the government.
