Mushrooms

Hi. My name is BabyRider and I'm addicted to mushrooms.

NO, not the goofy ones, real mushrooms. I just scarfed down a bowl of fresh mushrooms, covered in sun-dried tomato dressing. I have found a new munchie.

The purpose of this thread is to sing the praises of all things fungi. What's your favorite thing to put mushrooms in and what kind do you love the best?

(Any detraction, ie: "eewwww, mushrooms are GROSS" is cause for flogging)

Pizza, must have mushrooms. Spaghetti sauce, ditto. Salad, yes again.

Mushrooms on pizza, and mushrooms on salad, and mushrooms on everything!

I love mushrooms of all kinds but favor Shataki mushrooms with Braised Lamb.

OH! Me too! I love mushrooms too! When I was a chef, I used to make myself a bowl of sauteed mushrooms for dinner, nothing else, just that.

Oh heck yeah!

Ya know what really chaps my ass, though? When you get this fantastic, out-of-this-world pizza, and find CANNED mushrooms on it. Is there a more heinous crime to pizza imagineable?

LC, thanks for the recipes. I may get creative this weekend and give that a shot, it sounds food-gasmic. (Yes, that's a stupid word I just made up.)

Yes, canned mushrooms on ANYTHING suck!! Why do they can those things anyway??!! Ya know what I love? Sauteed mushrooms in butter/white wine...mmmmmm yummy!!! Delicious w/ steak!! I love all mushrooms too....even the Chinese ones in Hot Sour soup...thing they are called earwood mushrooms? Also a good Portabella sandwich is tasty too....OH! and of course breaded mushrooms w/ "horsey" sauce...(thats horsradish).......good topic Baby Rider!!!! lol

Oooh, one of the bars I used to work in made a portabella sandwich that was sinful. They way they served it was with a marinara sauce and cheese, on grilled bread. I eliminated the sauce and cheese and had a near perfect sandwich.

I think they can mushrooms to make us appreciate fresh that much more. Or just to torture us.

Shrrrroooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooms... are a lot of fun.... oh.. you mean the kind you buy in the grocery store... errrr.. yeah, they are delish too. Marinated Grilled portabellos on a pizza with fresh goat cheese.. pickled ones on an antipasto.. very nice touch.. sauteed with garlic and red wine served over a nice rare steak.. the possiblities are endless...

sauted mushrooms with onions over a porterhouse steak, mushrooms in spaghetti sauce, on salads, on pizza, stuffed mushrooms caps and wild rice with mushrooms. Dang, this is making me hungry!
