I didn't expect much when I started watching it but was blown away. You have to see it from the start to understand some of the characters. I absolutely have to read the books... which, annoyingly, aren't finished being written yet.
And every time someone tells the writer to hurry, another Stark dies. :wah:

Martin will probably die before the series is finished... it took him 10 years between books 3 and 4 and book 4 was terminally dull. I haven't even bothered to read the latest one.

Peter Dinklage absolutely deserved awards for his role as Tyrion. Everyone had thus far said the books were even better. Interesting to get a bad review. I might wait longer to read them then. The next two seasons are both book three so I've got lots of time to catch up.

I have to admit, it took me awhile to get the family's straight and got a little confused with the first book. One reason is I started and stopped a couple of times. After getting the characters figured out they were good. Probably more my fault than the writing.

Genre is dead. Long live the story!

I don't like what Martin did to Sandor, I don't like it at all. I'm hoping the series changes things.

It's usually a bad move to vary too much from the books without really good reason. Mind you, Vampire Diaries is almost a completely different beast on television than in print and seems to be keeping people happy.

I absolutely loved the books, though in the last two, the pace slowed down a bit.
The show is ok, but I couldn't really watch it all as it follows the books so closely, that I just got bored always knowing what is about to happen.

Reading the books cos I can't see it yet since I refuse to pay extra for sky HD. Don't usually like fantasy of this type but I am curious to see where he takes it.
