I'm just guessing, but my guess leads me to Republican party interests, maybe even Netanyahu interests. Together. In tandem. Or, Koch (sounds like 'Coke') interests. Who gains by this manipulation?

I don't mind being the only one replying to this thread. People like Pahu, etc., do it all the time. I find this "Sam Bacile" to be fascinating. So, here's some more:

The gist of it is is that N.Basseley who is aka Bacily Nakoula, admits he "knows" Sam Bacile. The police traced Bacile's cell phone to the same address as Basseley. Mr. Nakoula happens to be a felon.

Step in the spin doctors, how do you make it look like it's not an annual anti-US Yankee-Go-Home protest gaining ground year on year? You take a three month old story about a home made full-length feature film, blaspheming Islam and harking back to Pastor Terry Jones the Famous Quran Burner, and say that's what the riots at the consulate and embassy were all about. 9/11? What's 9/11? No of course it wasn't an anniversary celebration of the attack, nobody does that. It's just some loony ultra-religious extremists.

Yes it exists, no it's not been reported on as a visibly increasing source of world tension and who knows, it may even have been made as a mask for the occasion.
It's not been made the way the simplistic story tells it. The number of mentions anywhere on Nexis of Sam Bacile before yesterday is also zero. Any real estate developer capable of deploying 5M$ to make a feature-length production is going to be mentioned on Nexis someplace, even if only as a successful real estate developer, but not this one.
Finally, how do you make everyone blink while you're substituting the ball? You report, when interviewed from hiding under the name Sam Bacile, that every one of the film's alleged hundred backers is Jewish. Oy vey!
I reckon it's a made up name, as in "I'm Bacile - Imbicile". Geddit?"

I was surprised to read that the film trailer has been available on youtube since July and the angry militant Muslims are just now getting around to getting angry? I think your friend has a very valid point.

Yes, he's good at valid points. I think the angry militant Muslims were only recently made aware, or saved their awareness for 9/11. Don't you hate manipulation? I feel there is much to this story & I hope some investigative reporter investigates. I also learned that besides the felonies listed in the Yahoo article, prior to that he was arrested & served time for methamphetimine manufacture and/or distribution. Makes one wonder why he was not deported after serving his sentence. Just feel it's the tip of some iceberg, but as I publicly warned y'all every four years I'm reminded to get stirred up. A welcome relief, actually, since usually I've just been wondering about myself.

Who is Sam Bacile?
This film is a continuation of "the war on 'terror'" and I see only one resolution: 9/11 must be properly investigated and Bush/Blair etc must be brought to trial in Hague for war crimes. It must happen in that sequence so that a Hague trial can be informed.
A quarter of a million muslim citizens have been killed because of the ensuing wars justified by the Bush regime by 9/11. Those deaths deserve justice. A campaign of hate was spurred by the US administration called "war on terror" that has caused about 83% more death to innocent Muslim people than to innocent Americans. The US admin can't be held responsible for what a bigoted US citizen raised $5million to say but it can be held responsible for the campaign of hatred against all Muslims that exists today.
If you want peace you need to insist on clearing up why 250, 000 Muslims have died to compensate for something they didn't do. They didn't blow up the twin towers. It's time to end the insanity.
