titanic deckchairs shuffling the on like just the. rearrange as you see fit. Apparently the tory right wing are convinced we need to move to the right and privatise the NHS and they will win the next election.

There are rumblings that Cameron Is leaning more and more to the right. Warsi has commented on that. However, we the electorate are a queer lot... we'll either vote for the far right or the left, we don't seem to be comfortable with that grey area In the middle.

Actually for the last thirty years or so we have had in power governments that 2/3rds of the voters actively voted against our first past the post system distorts what people actually want. The liberals threw away the best chance to change it we have ever had.

But wouldn't the first past the post system mean more likelyhood of a coalition each time?

Proportional Representation does not appear to have hurt those stable countries that have moved to it. The likes of Austria, Germany, Switzerland, the whole of Scandinavia, the Benelux countries, New Zealand ...

we already have the first past the post system. OK I'll save having a dig I know you didn't mean that.
No it wouldn't just ask the former labour administration in scotland. What we have is a guarantee that the least unpopular candidate gets elected for each constituency, e.g 33% vote labour 35% tory and 32% liberal and 2% other parties. The Tory candidate wons despite the fact 68% of the electorate did not want him. Only those who get power because of it think it a great idea.

It would solve a lot of the problems we have here and is not complicated to run. Heavily fragmented countries like Italy and Israel have problems with it but they would have problems using any system.

Cameron doesn't need a PR exercise of a re-shuffle but clear new policies.... I have seen no evidence of that unless I've missed something.
