The cruelty involved is just staggering.
On the other hand, one wonders on what grounds the woman was arrested and had her house raided?

Preventing a burial. Police have the notion that Brady revealed the where-abouts of Kieth Bennett's remains In a letter to the woman who was a long standing pen pal and she failed to disclose It to police.
Most of the cruelty Inflicted since 1964 has been whipped up by the sensationist tabloid hacks. After nearly 50 years and given the size of Saddleworth Moor, there's the possibility that Brady can no longer recall the where-abouts of Kieth Bennett. The media likes to whip It up every few years to sell newspapers and add to the demonisation of Brady. The tabloids are as much to blame as Brady for the cruelty shown to his mother.

Even if Brady remembered where the body was buried, the chances are he still might never be found. The moors are forever moving. The landscape is changing all the time. It's an absolute tragedy that the poor woman was never able to get any sort of closure due to Brady's sick mind games

I saw an Interview with Sarah Payne recently and she revealed that even after just two weeks, there was very little left of Sarah after wildlife had taken It's toll. The reason forensics have never been able to establish cause of death.
With Brady, there's every possibility he's never been able to pinpoint exactly where his remains were. Just part of the games him and Hindly played to keep themselves In the limelight and with Hindley, a ruse that she was helping police just to get parole.

That's what the papers have said but when did that become a criminal offence?

It follows that the police, until they find any remains, do not know that a prima facie offence has occurred. Powell would seem to be on bail for something that may well not even have happened.
A charitable view might be that the police are giving Powell an excuse to breach confidentiality by handing over the letter. A less charitable view Is that the police needed an offence to allow them to search her home and office – and any offence would do.

Dis anyone else see the TV Doco two nights ago following Winnie Johnson's death?
Up until I watched It, I had some sympathy for the so called confidant who police arrested... Now... After seeing this vile woman on TV, I think Frankly, she should be locked up or Institutionised with Brady.
She spent the length of the programme crowing about how she had this letter. When the Interviewer put some hard questions to her about doing the decent thing and handing the letter to Winnie or police, she became hostile and wanted the camera's off. Until then she lapped up every bit of attention and publicity.
The cruelty Inflicted on Kieth Bennett's family will never end because even If Brady dies, there are nutters like this holding the family to ransom for some kind of perverse enjoyment as she seemed to enjoy throughout the prog. What a vile human being.
