Len Fairclough wasn't accused of anything. No episode of Coronation Street claimed he was the subject of national tabloid headlines. The actor playing the part was. I didn't want to use his real name, given the topic being discussed. Clear?

hang on, didn't spot mean that the actual actor was accused of things in real life, he just didn't want to name him given it could lead to an accusation of libel
Maybe I've completely lost the plot here, given the thread is full of misrepresentations.

In answer to criticism about the Police operation.
“Why didn’t the police find her body and arrest Hazell?” FACT The police did find her body and they have arrested Hazell. They just didn’t manage it before the ten o’clock news like Morse does.

I think the critism toward the police Is a little unfair.
In the first Instance, they were looking for a missing girl with the emphasis on ' missing'. That's because the Step Grand Father told police Initially that he had seen her leave the house and walk down the path. Right after that, a bus driver tolfd police he had also seen her at the end of the path.
Going by that Info which at the time they had no reason to disbelieve, especially from the Independant bus driver witness, they were not looking at finding a body nor was It a murder Inquiry.

Taken from the police officers blog of which Bruv posted.... I have to agree with every word he says.
August 11, 2012 by inspectorgadget
I find it very sinister that the focus is on the search for an already dead child rather than the actual death itself.
I don’t know about you, but whenever a teenager is late home, especially after a neighbour gives a statement saying they saw her leave the house, I always have the floor up, search the roof spaces between houses and take the walls down.
That kind of thing goes down particularly well when the teenager walks in through the front door, in 99% of cases totally unharmed, two days later.
I also find that arresting all the male members of the family, unless it’s Shannon Matthews in which case we better arrest all the females too, has a beneficial effect on which ever housing estate we are working in.
I also always ignore the specialist dog teams who come in when the hours become days. When the specialist search dogs fail to indicate, I never take notice. Oh no.
Maybe the police were distracted by the pasting they received when they arrested Christopher Jefferies for the Joanna Yeates murder. After all, he looked as good for that one as Stuart Hazzell does for this, all be it in a different way.
And while we are on a Twitter-fest of ‘us and them’ let us remember the 60 members of the public who telephoned the incident room to say they had seen poor Tia Sharp elsewhere.
Some people are used to having everything solved in 45 minutes, less the time for commercial breaks.
The unprecedented attacks on the police searching for Tia are undignified and sleazy. Nothing is known at all about the circumstances, or even if she was murdered. The poor child has not even been identified formally. But it has to be the polices fault. This way. people can absolve themselves form the realisation that it was not a policeman who killed her, if that is what happened, but an ordinary member of society. Someone like them.
Oh well. By September 2012, anything like this will be the new elected PCC’s fault. Which is kind of why the government wants them so badly in the first place!
