Tia Sharp missing: Murder inquiry launched as police find body in grandmother's home | Mail Online

First of all, let me state I am saddened that police have found Tia's body... I really prayed she had just run away from home.

Let me also state that police are merely looking for the Grandmother's boyfriend who has now gone missing. However, Tia's body has been found at the Grandmother's home.

Last night, the wanted man now missing came on National TV and pleaded with Tia to return home and put every one out of their misery and also denying all knowledge that he knew anything about her dissapearence.

Why do they make these plea's on National TV ? The Phillpotts did the same.

Mr Hazell's comments were a trifle bizarre even at the time...Asked about his history, he replied: "Everyone's got a shady past. My previous has nothing to do with it."

eta: A man of the same name is mentioned in "This is Local London", May 1, 2003, "Eight drug dealers were jailed for a total of 26 and a half years at Kingston Crown Court on Friday after being secretly filmed selling crack cocaine and heroin on the Fairfield".

So, now the police are being critised for failing to find the body sooner.

However, the Grandmother and her male neighbour were today arrested on suspicion of murder and the neighbour for aiding In what Is suspected as passing the body from loft to loft.

It stands to reason. The police carried out a 2 hour search of the Grandmother's home Including the loft and found nothing. Yesterday, the body of Tia was found In her loft. The only explanation Is as the police suspect, the body was passed from adjoining lofts.

I just don't get why these people go on National TV and make heartfelt plea's/

Just a few that come to mind:

Ian Huntly made a tv appeal for the community to help police........ he was convicted of murdering the two little girls.

Karen Matthews made a national tv appeal for her missing daughter and was convicted of arranging her kidnap.

Tracie Andrews made a national tv appeal for witness's and was later convicted of the murder of her boyfriend, Lee Harvy.

The Phillpotts made a national tv appeal for the community to help police and are now awaiting trial for murdering their children.

Some liars are very convincing, it's a game a fantasy they are living out. But I rather think that if you could "get it" there would be cause to worry.

It's almost like an unbelievable arrogance.

Arrogance that they think they are so clever they will outwit police and sniffer dogs. Or maybe they are all so bloody stupid, they haven't the Intellegence to realise you can't outwit a sniffer dog and forensics.

It's not just the odd case... almost every high profile murder and kidnap we have had has had the killer make a national tv appeal for their return... sick !!!

As to the original question you'd need to be in that position to know the answer. or to be part of the group goading the person appealing into making the appeal. My money's on the press pack, they're the ones who gain from it.

I've read both. Until there Is a charge and more Information, anyone can speculate either way.

The fact remains, the dead body was found In the Grandmothers loft which tends to limit the number of suspects.

The press do gain from it nowadays, but it seems general policy these days for the press to hunt out the worst in everyone. I seem to remember reading something years ago about the police liking the situation where parents/carers are appealing in front the media. Often they already have their suspicions when the appeal takes place. I can't remember it all now but it was something to do with observing body language. I think I heard the discussion on it years back when a man here locally basically buried his wife under the patio and then went on TV appealing for her to come home, at that stage the police already guessed he'd done something to her but couldn't find the evidence.

And I didn't, not sure I can place anything as to why I didn't really believe what he was saying, it was all too vague for me. But then any one of us could have read him wrong, all we can do is wait and see.

In the USA, when police first suspect a suspect, they ask them to take a lie detector test. The result of that usually determines how they then proceed.

I'm beginning to think It's the police who get them to make a tv appeal. It's an Ideal opportunity to study eyes, body language etc etc.

Perhaps I'm expressing myself badly. The Anorak has no interest whatever in the case. The Anorak is solely interested in the media reaction to the case. That's its remit, it's what it does.

I am the very one person here Spot who knows that any tabloid reports on an arrest and trial Is speculation. You do not have to point that out to me. I am still to this day surprised at what I have apparently told reporters.

All I am saying Is that at this very early stage, only those closest to the family will know the real facts. The rest Is speculation .

I am waiting to see If any of them are charged as that would be the Indicator that the police had something to present to the CPS for trial.

I get what you're saying, I've read both links through and it's amazing how much things can be made to sound so much worse just by a choice of wording, and how true is this statement 'a man is being monstered. I may not have felt he came across as genuine in his appeal but he is innocent until proven guilty, it's not for me or anyone else to slate him. Reminds me of that poor eccentric tutor in Bristol that the press accused of murdering Joanna Yates.

Newspapers think that all they have to is to add "allegedly" " a source confirmed" and they can say what they like. They disgust me. They answer to nothing and no one accept the prying readership. We are to blame I suppose, as much as we like to think we don't. Its a circus and even if we dont buy a front row seat we can often be seen peering from behind the curtain for a cheap thrill

Another regular occurance Is that you can actually talk to your local newspaper and then a day later find any National newspaper has re-printed the story. People then think It's you selling your story.

The Nationals scan local papers every day for stories of Interest.

I'm not bringing this up all over again Betty. All I know Is that at the time, the thread was being watched and a certain lawyer was happy to serve papers. For the record, It was actually me who declined the offer on account of I couldn't be arssed with the IPCC Inquiry and everything else at the time.
