I've been on the phone to them abut It.
'Cuffing' did not occur.... grabbing collar Is not cuffing.
Common Assault Is not Assault....
I shall expect damages.
Frankly, I'm at a loss as to why It made the Daily Mail and why I had to be mentioned.... even what my Grandfather has to with It.
I am however more than thrilled that my local police are more than vigilant on the Memorial since 2008 and now act on any nonsense. but then, we have some decent officers now.

I hadn't seen any of the Posts reporting but have just been on line and read them.
Once again, we have a situation where the local paper libels you and the Mail just re-prints the story. I don't blame the Daily Mail, I blame the source... who WILL be answerable In the morning.

For what It's worth, I find the sentence excessive.
I am sure they were just at a loss as to how to make a homeless man pay a fine or do some community service.
What he did was no worse If less worse than what the youths were responsible for In 2008. That was shown to the judge In photographic evidence.
Prior to that, we had wreaths damaged and urinating on the cross and gardens was common place.
When the council address the fact that there Is no public toilet for miles at night, It may stop happening.

If you didn't surround the damn thing with bushes it might look less like a pissoir and more like a public monument.

About a year ago, the Tory Councillor for the area asked me how I felt about removing those bushes. I told him, I'd be more than happy.
Not only does It attract people late at night to urinate there for lack of open public toilets, when plod drives past In the squad cars, those up to no good just duck behind the bushes. I can see no need for them what so ever.
I will mention It when I see them next.

One thing I couldn't help but notice when I lived & visited Europe. None of your so-called 'bad' neighborhoods are anything like ours. When it comes to slums, we got you beat.

In that the area's inhabited by the descendants of manure-shovelling medieval serfs, you've hit it bang on the nail. Maybe quaint is another transAtlantic oddword.

Actually, I can make a point here...
If you look at the benches In the photo In the Daily Mail pic, you'll see most have slats missing.
For 10 years, the Chairman of the local British Legion would walk Into the local cop shop ( before It was shut ) and say ' Another one gone'.
All had systematically been kicked out by the local yooooof over generations.
The upsetting part was that these benches were originally supplied by relatives of the war dead.... no one seemed to get that point.
A man gets prison for urinating on the memorial which Is easily remedied by rain or a bucket of soapy water.
10 years of systematic vandalism to the memorial ( I witnessed much of It ) saw no arrests and no prosecutions. That's the reason why when I was arrested, the war Vets were up In arms. Their plea's to the police to act fell on deaf ears for years.
The damage to the Gardens In 2008 took a year to recover from.

Glasgow was Europe's City Of Culture recently, you know. Maybe you're thinking of across the city in Gorbals.
Pucklechurch, by contrast, is a Neanderthal encampment which never finished Agriculture 101.
