Oh, the joys of self righteous wrath.
SCREAMING ANTI-ISLAM PROTESTERS TAUNT MUSLIMS WITH PIG’S HEAD: ‘YOU’RE GOING TO MELT IN THE FIRES OF HELL!’
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/screami ... s-of-hell/
Now this is exactly the sort of thing that gives Christianity a bad name.
The King of Love my Shepherd is? Not for this bunch. They are not any sort of Christian I recognise. Heathen savages more like.
Give me a moderate Muslim over a frothing bug eyed hate filled maniac who thinks he's Christian any day.

Too true - they wouldn't know Jesus if he stood in front of them.
Their hate blinds them to the truth they profess to believe.

It is nice to see them out there using freedom of speech to protest freedom of religion and freedom of thought.
One of the articles mentioned that they weren't there protesting on Sunday because they were off to Ohio to protest gay folks. They also protest tattoos, Santa Claus, Mormons, Buddhism, Roman Catholics, and rock music.

If your freedom of speech laws truly mean that the police are powerless to prevent this abuse then this is one of the few times that I hope that justice is served another way and they get what their hate deserves.

It deserves to be stopped, in its tracks, rapidly. That is not freedom of speech, it's abusive and incitement to violence.
I'll ask you a question, if instead of "Christians" on Muslims in the north it was Blacks on a White convention in the south, do you imagine the results would have been the same?

At least some Americans are doing the next best thing and that is that many are leaving Christianity altogether and raising their children without religion. Our religiously right-wing supreme court recently decided a case about Christians protesting at funerals and said, if I understand it correctly, that it's constitutional. What can ya say?

Oh, the joys of self righteous wrath.
I have to be honest and admit that I read the OP before opening the link and a sense of shame came over me.
Then I opened the link, saw It was America and breathed a sigh of relief.
Now I feel bad for breathing a sigh of relief.

Oh, the joys of self righteous wrath.
If Jesus Himself stood in front of them and preached, they'd kill him.
My apologies by the way to any heathen savages who happen to be reading this. Not fair to compare you to that sort of filth.
Glad to hear it's dying out.
The tendency this side of the Pond is to assume that most Southern Baptists, if not most religious Americans, are more or less like that, because that and tele-evangelism is mostly what we see on tv as US Christianity. And when you know that whatever a US Presidential candidate actually believes, he MUST at least pretend to be devoutly Christian if he is to have a hope of getting into the White House then the whole thing just reeks of falsehood and fakery and shits getting rich out of people's fears and gullibilty.
It's one of the good things about this sort of forum - the chance to get behind these assumptions through discussion.

It's one of the good things about this sort of forum - the chance to get behind these assumptions through discussion. Most Americans who identify with Christianity are decent, hard-working, caring people who honor their religion because they're living their lives to show respect for the traditions and values of those who came before them. Unfortunately, these Christians that are depicted in this article tarnish all Christians and so very difficult and painful decisions are being made by those brave enough to make them. In the end we learn we can honor our ancestors just fine without wearing their religion.

That's throwing the baby out with the bath water - these people are NOT Christians, they follow nothing that Christ taught. The only way to stop them is to target them, not Christians in general.

...and there's me using slightly incautious language. oops.
Yes, I know most religious Americans are as you describe them. Good folks. I was trying to convey the impression we get more than the reality.
And I've always had a soft spot for Quakers. Are they ours or yours?
What I understood Bryn to mean by saying they are not Christians is that Christ was about love, and turning the other cheek and doing as you would be done by and that whatever the colour of our skin or even faith we are all brothers and sisters even if some of us don't know it. And that was about hate and self righteousness. How could they possibly expect to do good? Would anyone, subjected to that, say they were wrong and should convert? It really seems to me that the ONLY reason they were there was to hate. And hate is the antithesis of Christ's teaching.

At first I thought you were talking about that horrible family, the Westboro Baptist Church. Disappointing to see these idiots spread their merde.

Okay, I had to work at it, but I think I might actually have found a bright side to the situation. Many religious groups and figures have been pushing to make the rules of their religion into law, so that everyone is forced to behave the way they specify. It is public demonstrations such as this that show the voting public that there is the potential for abuse in such laws.
I'm sure that there is a place for these folks, the Westboro Baptist Church folks, and the moron in Florida who burns Korans and hangs the president in effigy, but I think it will take a couple of more years to excavate a hole deep enough to hold them.

Oh, they'll dig a hole for themselves all right - I just want to help fill it in!
