Meet Dallas

Post by flopstock »

Brought her home from the local animal rescue Friday night. 5 months old and she's so loving and friendly.

Took her up to littleones dads today for fathers day.... she threw up on littleone as we pulled into the lake area where the festivities were taking place.:wah:

I had warned her that if the dog(who doesn't drool) was drooling all over her in the car that it was probably going to get car sick. She didn't believe me...

now she does..:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl

Congrats, she's a cutie. For the future to avoid the tummy

upset, there are lots of things to try. Ginger snap cookies

before the ride, dog riding as far to the front of the car as

possible, wide SLOW turns, open windows for fresh air.

You can also de-sensitize, but that takes longer. Just go

out and sit in car with out starting engine, gradually increasing to

just s short trip down driveway, down block, etc. and it works!

Good luck!

I am so thrilled that after losing your dog recently, you all found room. That's room In your hearts, your lives and your home for a young one.

She's looks a real cutie :-4

I know she'll reward you a million fold every day for finding room for her.

I'm going to try the ginger snap cookies, mostly because I'm curious why they would work.

Based on how hesitant she's been to get in the car(both the night we brought her home and today) I'd guess this isn't a new issue for her.

I'll also have her ride up front with me next time, in stead of in back with littleone.

thanks for the tips!

If she doesn't like the ginger, charcoal biscuits also help with travel sickness.

Ginger works for a lot of 'people'... think ginger ale for upset tummy!

She could have had a bad experience, but just getting sick IS the

bad experience. Plus at 5 months, their little tummies just usually

aren't up to it.

If you do try the de-sensitizing, make the car a happy treat party,

give her something she only gets at those times, (skinless chicken

breast bit, boiled works good) and she will start looking forward to

getting in it. Time will take care of the rest!
