I don't know what the Press will say afterwards, but this is live on the BBC News Channel at present. Seems to me he was being a slimy backstabber and doing his best to undermine the process (whereby Vince Cable was in charge of referring the BSkyB bid to the Monopolies and Mergers commission) while appearing not to.
At present the cross examiner (Mr Jay?) is producing large amounts of stuff showing close contact between Hunt and NewsCorps and Hunt saying all perfectly normal nothing naughty here. He's trying to say his close interest in and sympathy for the bid is not somehow "support".
"I did not have sexual relations with that woman." Yeah, right.
It seems entirely apparent that Murdoch spotted Hunt as a spineless wimp and used him as his line in to the government.

Be interesting to see what Osborne and Cameron say about this one.

You gotta laugh - having knifed Cable in the back and got the job, Hunt then suddenly realises that issues of the plurality of the media are important (what? Didn't realise it before?) and ends up doing badly what Vince Cable was doing anyway, probably leaving NewsCorps in actual control of the whole thing at the end of it all! What a little creep!

He's a slithery modern-day teflon type, I'd not vote for the sod if it were me. I've had it playing since he started this morning, just the sound.
Not as slithery as Blair, admittedly.
