I think I can honestly say that no headline has brought me such sadness In many a year.

The British government and the Police Force? (in the RSA its known as the "Police Service"), after all they should serve the public who via tax pay them, should hang their heads in shame. Of course they won't. Instead you will, without a shadow of a doubt, have first the Chief Constable of his precinct? and then maybe the Home Secretary, making statements saying what a fine person he was and how sorry they are about his death. Too little too late of course.

I have always believed that men and women who put their lives on the line day and night, albeit by choice, should be very well paid and well supported when they are injured in the line of duty.

I couldn't agree with you more JJ

PC Rathband set up The Blue Lamp charity after failing to get adequate support. He set the charity up to help other officers Injured In the line of duty.

Having to set up charities Is not something a disfigured, blind victim should need to do for other police officers.... The Government and the police force should be giving them all the support they need.

Today, out they come from the woodwork to pay tribute to him. David Cameron was one of them and said today that he had met David.... Oh big deal... you met him...
