The euphoria marred by the serious Injury during the race to Master Minded at first believed life threatening.

His trainer Paul Nicholls tweets tonight say ' life threatening' has changed to 'Career threatening'..

I note his midget is considered by some to be a contributory factor in many of his first places. To quote his trainer - and this, astonishingly, isn't written about a horse, it's about a rider -We've managed his comeback, two or three rides here and there and he's been getting fitter and better. When he rode a double at Fontwell on Tuesday, I knew he was back to his best. He's done a lot of schooling this season and we get on so well. He will take some replacing when he retires.

Out of interest, were they also paired together last year?

In the main, Walsh Is Kauto's rider. AP McCoy was Denman's... Both Jockeys know or knew their mounts so that the horse would perform all the better for them riding them.

Walsh has riden Kauto In all the major victories and Gold Cup wins but last last year for the King George, Walsh was badly injured two weeks before the race breaking his femur. A replacement was lined up but he broke his wrist just prior to the race. Finally, AP McCoy was dismounted from his usual mount to ride Kauto In the King George. He had less than one weeks schooling with him prior to the race and Kauto just would not perform for him. However, AP McCoy Is 13 times champion Jockey.

There Is absolutely no doubt and all Kauto devotee's understand that the success of the horse Is also down to Walsh. The horse likes him and performs for him, It's that simple.

We just got home from the lovely village of Ditcheat In Somerset where we saw Kauto Star paraded through the village to a hero's home coming.

Kauto Star King George Paul Nicholls | Home | Sky News

Master Minded last night went down for surgery and apparently Is comfortable today but It is a very serious Injury. Not sure how he did It. From where we were standing, he didn't fall but make a serious error of judgement and clouted the fence rather than jumped It.

who made the error in judgment, the horse or its rider?

I don't normally watch the gee-gees but I turned over to watch that one.

To borrow a phrase from the grandkids, awesome - still jumping sweetly and showing the young-uns a clean pair of hooves.

I found it hard to understand why, when a jocky was rolling round on the floor in agony and unable to get up the two stewards standing ten yards away just looked on and did nothing to help or even to see if he needed medical attention?

I agree and It's all rather bizzarre. The horse didn't fall and seemed to suffer the Injury as he clouted It after jumping. Why Daryl Jacob the Jockey was In agony Is unknown as there were no announcements and I can find reports on the progress of the horse but not the jockey.

There were 22,000 people there and of course, all eyes and camera's were on kauto Star.

There appears to not be one piece of footage that shows exactly what happened because all camera's were on kauts.

Of course I want to see him take a third Gold Cup but sorry, my money will be on another horse entirely .... Grand Crus.... I've mentioned him a few times here on the forum but as luck would have It, he was running at Kempton also on Boxing Day.
