Saudi spending $100 billion on nuclear power - Bikya Masr

Let me see now, who was it who attacked america on 911, has persuaded them to take out the nearest rival and hopefully the next door neighbour and religious rival?

The iranians aren't actually arab but apart from that why not a crazy jew? They have nuclear weapons and the fundamentalists are gaining political clout and influence so why not a crazy jew who thinks god is on his side?

Christian, Jew, Muslim, Zoroastrian or Hindu, if you think God is telling you to kill people you are a danger to everyone.

tsk tsk naughty boy you are disrespecting their religious beliefs. There seems to be a rather insidious creeping in of the notion that you are not allowed to criticise religion or religious belief for any reason. Even all the recent sex scandals have somehow been turned in to an attack on religion by a secular society.

Religious people have always played the victim, especially while they massacre others either physically or by reputation.

Those who pervert good religion into a horror should be treated with the contempt we both know they deserve. Who on earth has turned the sex scandals into an attack on religion - apart from a couple of morally lost Catholic bishops or cardinals who surely no-one took seriously?

Religious people have always played the victim, especially while they massacre others either physically or by reputation.

Too much of a blanket statement for me. There have been some great religious figures. Some we know by reputation such as the Venerable Bede (a personal favourite - he invented History), others are more modern - Desmond Tutu did fine work in SA, I would say.

Vatican's anti-Semitism analogy sparks outrage - CATHOLIC CHURCH - FRANCE 24

Our Church and Pope Are Under Attack: We Must Respond - U.s. - Catholic Online

The catholic church particularly was what I was referring to but I suppose sectarianism is not such a big issue in the states and elsewhere. If they can turn it in to an attack on religion by a sectarian society and pretend their faith is why they are being criticised then other churches are relieved of the burden of seeming to take sectarian delight at the catholic church being caught with their trousers down.

Realistically if the Iranians want a nuclear missile they cold probably buy one quite cheaply. There are enough radioactive materials lying around dump sites to make a "dirty" radiation bomb were terrorists so inclined, come to that setting of a petrol tanker in the middle of a city would be a lot more effective and harder to prevent than hijacking a plane.

I still think the saudis are manipulating things, anyone disagree?

Good to note that a number of people in the comments on the us online article were criticising the Catholic Church, and some of those were clearly believers. Plenty of hysteria though.

The France 24 article is pretty much what I expect from the Vatican.

Regarding the Saudis - the whole region is a tinderbox. They don't stand out to me one way or the other, although I understand the Wahhabi (sp?) version of Islam is a very puritanical one. And I'm just about as suspicious of puritans as I am of the Catholic zealots.
