Living bridges

Growing your own house may seem like a new idea, but what about growing pieces of functional infrastructure? That’s exactly what the locals of Nongriat in Meghalaya, India have been doing for the past 500 years. In that time, they’ve grown bridges over one hundred feet in length and strong enough to support the weight of more than 50 people. There are even “double decker” bridges!

Pretty cool if you live in India's jungles. :)
ALOHA!!

MOTTO TO LIVE BY:

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming.

WOO HOO!!, what a ride!!!"

that's very interesting because over 150 years ago people were living in the bases of trees where I live in gippsland. . That's how big the trees were. About the size of a small cottage. Actually Dolorean could probably show you the size of the trees in her state .

I saw the documentary for those bridges, some are hundreds of years old. Amazing. As for a home I would prefer above the ground.

I love trees, I wouldn't mind living in one or up in a tree house.

Ever see this story? Sounds like she's got some uptight neighbors. Manhattan Treehouse Survives Legal Fight « CBS New York
