I guess they stormed a grain dock down in Longview early this morning. Apparently they murdered several bystanders and held the security guards hostage for some time. They finally released them after eating one at a BBQ. They and looted nearby businesses and even raped a police dog!!! To top it off they sank several ships in the Columbia river and in yet another act of terrorism destroyed several trains filled with wheat destined for starving Libyan, Iraqi and Afghan children.
That's what you'd think happened if you listened to the local media here. I have a friend who works on the docks in Tacoma. I called him and asked a few questions. They did break down the gate, cut the brake hoses on some rolling stock and open up some grain hoppers this morning. No one was held hostage, the guards stood by and watched and after about 2 hours they left. A window got broken when they busted down the gate.
The reason? The company wants them gone. They want to squash the Union. I'm no big fan of Unions but what caught my attention was the distortion in the media and an interview with the Longview sheriff. That guy wants to bust heads, he wants to bust a few caps. There is now no doubt what in my mind what will happen to any Americans who stand up for their rights. It won't be pretty.

I have had the privilege to be a part of a Union and have worked with them before. I don't like the narcissistic attitudes of the workers and their closed minded way of thinking and as for the leadership? They're just as corrupt as the lowest politician you'll ever meet.
BUT. I'm beginning to think we need them back. I certainly know the politicians in DC are not going to keep us out of the third world. I am looking into joining one of several just as soon as I am done doing some schooling.

I dont' understand ...wouldn't you just join the Union that covers your trade?
Just like everyone else they need a boot up the arse sometimes and when the proverbial hits the fan you see a very good turnover of leadership because they don't have the comfy seat anymore.....people actually expect things from them.

what happens more often than not with Unions is ...people forget ...they have Unions do their thing and then forget who fought for their rights at work. but a good Union shares that responsibility with the workers ..it's the workers who stand on the picket lines ......half our dads here have probably stood on picket lines. it's not the Unions who win these things ...they just help with the paper work and the law and the organising ...it's the actual people themselves that obtain their rights ....................if they really want them. Unions should never be seperate fromt he people because in essence Unions ARE THE PEOPLE. You should see the mess in my country today because the Unions forgot who they actually represent .disgusting to say the least. But it's changing and there is going to be a lot of **** kicking and arse kicking.

Joining a Union for my trade is what I am considering doing. I am going to school part time to get more up to date on the technology as it has changed greatly in the last 20 years. I don't like the idea of having to run with a herd though. I do think we need to get back to collective bargaining in some form here in America, just to save ourselves. Business doesn't give a damn about peoples standards of living, all they care about is the bottom line and if they can force people to work for nothing they will do it.
