A second Texan Republic? — RT

For the benefit of any texans reading this England did NOT conqueor Scotland our political leaders sold out, there is a difference. The english flag does not fly above the scottish one the union flag represents all three nations. If you don't know british history don't pretend to be an expert on it. :-5:-5:-5.

So how likely are states to secede again?

RT's quite interesting just because it's such a different viewpoint. I found myself shoputing at the screen when he mentioned scotland. Apart from not knowing much about scottish history I love the conspiracy theory that it's hard to find any news about it because the british establishment is keeping it quiet. I wouldn't have thought it was of much interest unless it was going to affect you but it takes about thirty seconds to find umpteen articles on the matter.

Most of those bringing the issue up seerm fairly fascist in their politics. Is it not the case that most of the wealthier industrial states are in the north still? Could texas survive on it's own or would it end up part of mexico again? If they secede and the bulk of the population is hispanic might they not end up joining mexico?

Watching the Alamo and the outlaw josey wales is about the extent of my knowledge of texas history

Texans declared themselves independent from Mexico, managed to fight off the Mexican Army and then came to the US asking for statehood, because they figured that was the only way they could keep Mexico at bay.

The secession issue was then dealt with in the 1860's.

Now should they secede, again, I doubt the US would send troops and raid the place, but, they would have to establish their own trade treaties and such. I suspect they would get pretty hungry before they worked all that stuff out.

I doubt they would actually find a majority of Texans willing to secede. Most consider themselves Americans.

For most Americans, watching "Rob Roy" and "Braveheart" on the Movie Channel probably cover their grasp of Scottish history, so don't feel too bad about you knowledge of Texas.

I'd love to know how we are leaching off the Commonwealth. Are they still paying taxes no-one except Texan shockjocks are clever enough to know about? chuckle. Probably thinks because they never rose up in arms and threw us out that Australia is still a penal colony of England, which is why they have the "English" flag in theirs. Self important dimwit.
The crowd: "Yes! We are all individuals!"

Lone voice: "I'm not."
