How do you tell when politicians are lying?

Their lips are moving.

Rule # 1:

Politicians lie.

Rule #2

If a politician says he doesn't lie, see rule # 1

The only time there is a cause for concern,

when a politician says the opposition is lying.

This can create certain sorts of ripples in the space-time continuum.

Personally, the New Testament tolerance I grew up with - not this newfangled Old Testament eye-for-an-eye fundamentalism we seem to get so much of nowadays.

I would say that morality should be less attached to religion, per se'

A moral code is one accepted by a society.

Such as in ours, it is morally reprehensible for adults to have sex with children.

I am pretty sure that crosses most religious boundaries.

You and I will remember this thread and come back to it on December 31st or there abouts and compare notes. Remember, the gop is talking about discretionary spending cuts of $100 Billion per year for at least the next 2 years.

Pence likes to denounce his own past behavior as an elected official. The guy was a part of the tax and spend culture he so vehemently abhors. Pence has been in the house since 2001, he helped Bush get us into this mess.

What's our debt? Something like $14 trillion? $100b is 0.7% of that.

No one's serious about cutting anything. There will be posturing, some symbolic action, then back to status quo. ... actually, that is status quo.
