I have to leave soon. I dont feel like brushing my teeth. If I keep a respectable distance and do as little talking as possible is this acceptable for a 2 hr mission ? Or is this just too gross to consider ?

Just kidding. San Antonio never knew it would be a big city. As you enter, you pass through the well-planned communities hiding among the surprising number of liveoak trees. (I say surprising because most suburban housing tracts simply bulldoze over everything, level the area off, and build on the new blank canvas. It's nice that the community values the more natural look afforded by building around the trees.) But the streets and byways quickly become more and more jumbled and confusing the deeper toward the center you get. They built a large loop similar to the M-25 around London (I think it's 25, right?), then had to build another larger one outside of that. The city map looks for all the world like the cross-section of a mighty tree. Just like that cross-section tells the history of the tree, moving farther inward reveals a mute history of the city.

Two modern-day theme parks (6-Flags and Sea World) rest on the outskirts, evidence of the current prosperity. Other evidence is the constant new construction along the city's edge, rough like bark. The map shows some knots in the cross-section. San Antonio's growth actually overtook several small towns, overtaking and surrounding them, but not absorbing them. Continuing inward greets alternating layers of commerce, expensive housing and slum, each layer older than the one before.

Diligence and a bit of luck will reward the traveler the one thing San Antonio has that is unique to every other city: the Alamo. That world-famous monument to bravery that, at least partially, defines what it is to be Texan.

These are the bones of my new home town. The flesh and wondrous spirit I will save for another day.

Ok how about this one. Is it acceptable to dice a rotisserie chicken and add it to cream of chicken soup along with peas and pass it off as chicken ala king ?

It is popular belief that in the years 120-124 Hadrian reconstructed the rotunda and the baths in Rome. However, that paled in comparison to that was the much more celebrated tower of playing cards constructed by Sputimus VII. Towering a phenominal 32 feet tall, it stood free in an open room for three months before an ill wind finally blew it down.

Under US culinary tradition, it is widely acceptable to do so, however, such practice would definitely not be allowed in any official competition.

The third-world tropics have some awesomely beautiful sights. Waterfalls that come out of nowhere, ruins and statues with no known history, birds and flowers that compete for best in show. I'd love to live there for a little while.
