Why does 'Stable, Door, Horse and Bolted' Spring to Mind?....

Theresa May: Victims of anti-social behaviour can name police who don't help | Mail Online

I do not actually agree with this.

Since a Police Chief went public In the Daily Mail last week that Britain had lost the Streets to Yobs ( His words ), we are well aware that this has happened because of less and less Police are actually on the Streets but are down the Nick filling out copious amounts of paper-work In triplicate.

The answer to combating ASB Is not to persecute hard working Police Officers and Beat Managers but to cut the red tape and the confines of which the Police work under such as Government targets and actually let Police patrol the Streets.

If any-one feels grieved by a Police Officer, they can take their case to the IPCC.

I just see no purpose In tying up more Officers to Investigate Police Officers when any complaint that an Officer has not helped some-one, Is most likely going to be down to lack of man-power. I do not believe that any Officer who truely wishes to serve the public purposely Ignores a victim. They just can not be every-where, all of the time.

The moves to not put calls concerning yobs to the bottom of the priority list, is a step in the right direction. IMO as police are there to protect people and property, a call for help from the police about gangs of youths, is a call to protect people, surely? It is certainly a call to protect property I would have thought. The police are here to PREVENT crime, and IMO gangs of youths with their raucous, foul-mouthed inhebriated exploits is a possible lead-up to a committed crime, either on innocent people or on property.

I just can not see how the Government can spout this rubbish whilst In the process of cutting more jobs In the Police leaving them more under-manned.

Having written my OP, I have to say that we hear complaints about a certain PC and the majority seem to believe he Is lazy and under-estimates the Impact ASB has on the victims. Then that Is what the IPCC are there for and one can easily claim 'dereliction of duty'.

Most officers do want to serve the public but of course you get the odd one who see the Police Force merely as a tool for promotion and are target driven not giving a toss about Joe Public.

I agree with Theresa May that ASB crimes need to go back to being treated as Individual crimes with Individual victims Instead of placing a whole gambit of crime such as breach of the peace, criminal damage, drunk and disorderly, threatening behaviour etc under one big banner of ASB where It Is treated as grade C crime.
