Where does the political correctness stop and the offensiveness begin. Very early on with this bloke, I'd say.
Its a difficult subject to discuss. Why do I find Chubby Brown offensive and Frankie Boyle hilarious ? Why does Jim Davidson make me cringe and Jimmy Carr make me crease up. Is it because Frankie and Jimmy target individuals rather than stereotyping groups ?

He's not someone I would go out my way to see but he's funny in bits. I can't understand this government but maybe that's because I can't get my head far enough up my arse. or the black guy - you've got blonde hair, blue eyes, red lips , pink skin and you call me coloured.

I have to agree with you there...
Jimmy Carr and St Frankie crack me up yet I find Jim Davidson crass and an Imbicile.

I base my opinion of Chubby Brown on a corporate he did for my sales company. Without the foul language he went down worse than a doodlebug during the blitz and as funny as a dose of diahorra only the diahorra being slightly more pleasant to look at. Complete and utter tosser.

I'm not easily offended. Any one who is shouldn't watch people like Frankie Boyle or Jimmy Carr. Hilarious but pushing the barriers further than some would like. My objections are toward people like Bernard Manning. He was a great comedian and could be very original and funny. Unfortunately he was clearly racist, offensively racist. Jim Davidson's chalky routine was racist. Chubby Brown's golliwog routine is racist. That is and should be unacceptable in today's, apparently enlightened times

Sorry posted link twice.
Personally I think programmes like till death us do part did a lot to counter racism by letting us laugh about it, same with lenny bruce.
I used the fat bastard one because it is incredibly racist and offensive and had the character been a big black man say or it was a british film with a fat american then there would have been outrage - although jokes about fat germans and towels go down a treat even in germany.
YouTube - Benny Hill's Nazi Death Camp
But no one objects and most scots find it hilarious. (Sadly my english wife thinks fat bastard a suitable term of endearment now). Same with russ abbott and see you jimmy wigs
So what's the difference, are scots just more mature and can laugh at ourselves or is it funny because it has an element of truth.

Now that was comedy :yh_rotfl
I had the misfortune to be taken to see Roy "Chubby" Brown once, the material was so unfunny he had to try to shock people by making every other word a swear word - doesn't shock, doesn't amuse, just make him sound demented.
As an alternative, I went to see Billy Connolly once and, although there was almost as much swearing in there, the material and presentation was so good I was in pain with laughing.

Mr O and myself have seen Billy Connolly Byrn twice and we love his general observations of life. Hysterically funny and although he does swear, it almost seems apt during the dialogue.
On the other hand when Brown did the corporate for us, he was under strict orders... No swearing, no racist jokes and no Insulting women. Basically he was left with nothing.
One of the funniest corporates we had was Canon and Ball. They were just silly but very funny. As a Finale, Canon sang and we were blown away by his voice.
I would have the say the greatest I have ever seen live would be Eddie Izzard. .... Julian Clarey was fairly amusing also although smutty at times.
