I could nip up  for saturday and sunday, would have to be home sunday teatime to take the children back from their dad, then we could all nip up again late sunday night until thursday when I'd have to be back home again to hand them to their dad at teatime. Oh and I'd have to nip back on wednesday, the children need to see their granny before they head off on their hols with their dad
could entail a lot of driving this hey! :wah: You should have picked Cornwall!! I could work with that :p:sneaky:

What a charming part of the country, Kaz, I'm sure you will enjoy yourselves up there. I noticed that there is fishing, so Gordon will be happy about that!
I hope the weather is kind to you, but even if it rains, the gorgeous countryside will more than compensate, I'm sure.
Have a good time and come back safe! :-6 :yh_bigsmi

I have been looking at your links again Mrs and I am tempted. I really want to get Pete away for some fresh air and I see on your link there Is trout In the river. It also looks Ideal for my 3 terriers to rummage In the country-side. Could you send me a list of prices Kaz? I would be very grateful.
Naturally I would only book when Kelso had a National Hunt race-meeting.

well someone told him late May early June is better,,, the cottage was lovely but not as close to Kelso as we thought,, well for walking in anyway ,,, only 3 miles but not good roads for walking ion as no paths and the narrow man made path along the river was quite frankly dangerous with my recently healed broken ankle:wah::wah: Im sure there are cottages closer if not actually in Kelso itself and therefore closer to the racecourse. The next fixture is October 3rd i think
Sheila is on the other couch snoring as we speak :wah:

:wah: I know! ,, theres a caravan park actually on Thirsk race course aint there? well we do like to go to the races sometimes,,
yes of course Sheila is going, but i need to get a baby safety gate or summat to put across the opening at the front of the decking
No we aint won the bleedin lottery:wah: we like to go on hols,,, short breaks mainly and most cost under £300,,,some under £200, and the one we went to Kelso my sister came so she put in as well:p
Holidays this year
January - West Wing,Mon to Thurs a cottage near Whitby, second time we have been, its beautiful, My husband's sis and hubby came along on that one and went halfys as its not one of the cheaper cottages:sneaky: enjoyed it a bit less as i had broken my ankle a couple of weeks before and was in non weight bearing cast:-5
March - caravan at Kippford on the Solway Firth. Mon to Fri A quiet private site just a walk away from the solway, beautiful place, quite a rainy holiday though:wah: and although the price was very cheap, it ended up expensive when a Pheasant ran in to the front grill on the car and bent the radiator!!!
May - Staffordshire - Full week. A cottage on Norbury Junction, the union canal. This was my 50th birthday treat and it was fab! A lovely cottage and right onthe canal with a pub literally steps away. Beautiful weather, and had a fabulous day on a canal boat we hired for the day, took a picnic and some fizz and laughed at ourselves trying to work the very very simple tiller:wah:Pics in my album on here.
August - Kelso, full week a cottage pretty close to the Tweed and the Teviot so hubs was happy fishing, my sis came along and we had a great time walking dogs, shopping etc,, some beatiful places and scenery on driving.
Next one is the Wren lodge in September, Mon to Fri. looking forward to it:D
then in October i booked us a night in York for Gordons birthday. I love York and got a great deal at the travelodge:guitarist only £29 for the room
You know we dont go out a lot , as in out to pubs etc, we both packed in smoking a year gone March, so this is our luxery, and tbh its hard to get hubby to relax otherwise, as if hes home he will say oh im taking the day off, but then he gets bored and ends up working, this way he gets proper time off;)Also, as we usually take the dog, we dont need to be spending a lot while we are away, just go for walks etc,, might do a little shopping depends, but i dont even mind cooking, its part of our day:)cook a nice meal and open a bottle of wine,, lovely:)

You know we dont go out a lot , as in out to pubs etc, we both packed in smoking a year gone March, so this is our luxery, and tbh its hard to get hubby to relax otherwise, as if hes home he will say oh im taking the day off, but then he gets bored and ends up working, this way he gets proper time off;)Also, as we usually take the dog, we dont need to be spending a lot while we are away, just go for walks etc,, might do a little shopping depends, but i dont even mind cooking, its part of our day:)cook a nice meal and open a bottle of wine,, lovely:)

had a great time and we fell very lucky with the weather indeed:-6 lots of lovely sunshine and quite warm:)so we got out and about loads and visited quite a few places,,, scarborough, Helmsley, boroughbridge, Kirbymoorside,, Hutton Le Hole was a favourite as its so quaint and gthe sheep have right of way there:wah: they juts walk anywher they like in the village and surrounds as its common land, was weird seeing them all around, and something qwuite funny was,, we had to really watch where we walked because of the sheep being able to use anywhere on paths roads grass etc to go to the toilet, and yet they still had signs to say you could be fined £1000 for not picking up your dog poo:wah::wah:

We tried two or three whilst we were up there, all good but none stand out to be recommended.
