In his weeks Parshah we are commanded to perform charity

(Deut. 15:7-8)

7 If there be among you a needy man, one of thy brethren, within any of thy gates, in thy land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thy heart, nor shut thy hand from thy needy brother; 8 but thou shalt surely open thy hand unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need in that which he wanteth



My mother used to say that every time you fulfill a commandment, one of the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet that is connected to that commandment would be stamped on your heart and its light would be absorbed throughout your body but only as long as you are performing the commandment or until you complete the commandment. But if one does the commandment of charity the letter remains the whole week.

Tzedaka the Hebrew word for charity comes from the word tzedek (righteousness) spelled tzadik-dalet-kuf plus an additional hei. Since the hei at the end of a word is a sign of the feminine gender, yesod transforms Nukva into a female. In other words tzedaka may be considered the feminine form of tzedek yud-hei of God's name Havayah in that it receives from above and signifies that it is from the two principal components of the intellect.

The vav-hei signifies the emotions (thought, speech, and action).

The one giving charity should intend to unite the letters of the name Havayah so you should say I am doing this in order to unify the Holy One, and His Shechina

The money he gives to the poor person manifests the yud of the name Havayah.

The five fingers of the hand of the giver manifest the first hei of the name Havayah.

And since the arm looks like the vav, essentially a straight line. His extended arm manifests the vav of the name Havayah.

This is the meaning of the verse, and the act of charity will be peace. (Isaiah 32:17) giving charity makes peace between the estranged letters of the name Havayah.

in spirituality charity means so much more than this but its a start.
