Anyone have XM Radio?
I have XM Radio in my car, but would like to have it on my radio at home.
Does anyone have it on their home radio that could explain how you'd set it up on your home radio and how much it costs?
Thanks...

I believe you must have an XM reciever to intercept the signal. Not much on the radio worth listening to unless you fall into Clear Channels demographics. Glad I dont.

I have xm in my car and house. You need to purchase a home kit, not sure how much it will cost cause mine came with both. The kit will include a base and a antenna. Just make sure you know the model of your radio so you can match it.

Thanks Fisher. I really should just call XM and order the home kit. I should buy a new stereo though. Is the kit hard to set up.
Did you get any discount if you already had XM in your car?
What channels do you like to listen to?

Do you have a xm radio that you can remove from your car or is it built into the car stereo? If it is built in you will have to purchase another radio and that will add to you monthly bill. If it is removable than all you need is another base and antenna which you can purchase at most electronic stores that sell xm. It is very simply to install just make sure your antenna is in a south west window or as close as possible. I am a big fan of the 70's channel and also like to listen to prime country. The best thing about xm is it has such a large selection to choose.

I have XM as well. We have the dock, which when you remove the "box" from your vehicle, you dock it to listen inside. I did not have a south facing window but sat it in my kitchen window which faces East and point it towards the South. Always picked up a signal. My favorite channel is top 20 on 20 and any news channel. Hubby listens to several talk shows.
I probably posted that in an ambien trance-soryy

If you decide on a new system check e bay out. You can get premium recievers, speakers etc at a fraction of the retail cost. Many recievers now are XM ready.

Thank you everyone.....Fisher, Nomad and Devis8me. The radio came with my new car. I appreciate all of your advice. There's a lot to think about here.
I'm only in my car for short times so I think that I'd like to buy a kit for my home and not use XM in my car. I really should buy a new stereo or radio first though.
Does it only hook up to only one radio/stereo....and why should it face the south west?
I'm just so sick of the conservative radio channels that we have in my area. I love to listen to good music and talk radio. But, not conservatives who shout and scream. I love listening to Doug McIntyre, George Noory on coasttocoast, Joan Hamburg, Foody shows, Howard Stern, Broadminded, psychology talk shows, Rosie, and anything fun.
Thanks Nomad...I will look into ebay when I understand what I'm doing.
Thanks everyone:-6

It has to face south or close as possible for the signal.
