Thanks to Tombstone's magic wand I have come back to see my friends.

I hope you're all well. :)

Work has been manic so thank goodness it's the summer holidays and I can just kick back and relax for 6 weeks. Woohoo! Six weeks!

I love the new look around here and I especially loved Tombstone's Welcome Back cocktail . . . I certainly needed that!

Thanks Chris. When I figure out how to do it, I'll buy you a pint in return. :):):)

Thanks snowfire, it's really lovely to see you again. :)

Hiya Chonsi, it's lovely to see you again too. You must be as exhausted as I am as your school year has just finished too. Although I think you might finish a little earlier than us. However, it must be tough having to go back and teach summer school. Is that harder or easier than normal school, or just as exhausting?

Hiya AFTR, it's great to see you again. :D

I actually have my hair up because the temperature has just been so high for the last few weeks. Even though we've had a little rain it's still really muggy and hot.

(You can picture me with a Marge Simpson beehive hair-do now - except mine isn't blue! hehehehehe)

It's always hard going back, especially when you've had fun being off.

We broke up on Friday so we've only just started our holiday.

Can't get away from work though! I went to the newsagents this morning and bumped into one teacher, then went to B&Q and bumped into a second teacher in the car park. I laughingly said to my other half "I wonder who we'll bump into inside?" And guess what? We bumped into another teacher shopping with her mum. Finally, off to Sainsburys...and bumped into some students!

I thought I was supposed to be getting AWAY from them all! LOL!

Btw, apologies for this little character --> :lips: He's snuck into some of the above posts for some unknown reason. Once I find my way into the little room he's hiding in, I'll boot him back out again. Don't know how he got there! Grr! ;)

Nearly a month off work with no contact and no reminder - a record by a country mile.

Add to that a total chill out holiday.

Going back to work sucks :-(

Lol. But ya have to think that if you didn't go back then you wouldn't truly appreciate the time that you had off.

If every day was warm but with a pleasant breeze and you spent it at the poolside with a cocktail in your hand, then, sad as it is, you would eventually get bored with that unchanging lifestyle.

Having life suck makes us truly appreciate when life is fab and DOESN'T suck.

Also, although you lived through your wonderful holiday once, you can recall the sights and sounds to mind a million times...and that makes your enjoyment of it a million times more precious.

So now you've had the pep talk, its nose to the grindystone time and time to save up for next years hol. I am also quite prepared to come along with you and tell you how much you should be enjoying it every day. All I require is airfare, bed and board and multiple daily cocktails. Not much really. :sneaky::lips::wah:

I love your idea! And I especially love balloons and cocktails! :-4:-4

I would absolutely LOVE to taste a Maitai. I've seen them on TV and they look so beautiful! I am dying to try one!

The closest I get to cocktails these days is a glass or two of Pimms at the school summer fayre. Hic.

Oh gosh, Gilly, rules are so hard and I really don't understand them . . . *batting of eyelids in innocent wonderment*

I hope to have some fun, tell some jokes, play some games . . . or do I mean play some jokes, have some games....:sneaky::lips::wah:

Thanks for the lovely welcome. *big grin* I hope to have fun here now that the long summer break is finally here. I also still have several boxes to unpack from when I moved here in January. And finally, as the only time I really have time to catch up with my RL friends is during the holidays I can see I'll be forced to spend quite a few long boozy lunchtimes in the pub catching up! Life is such a hardship! ;0) ;):)

Sadly, it's cheaper for us to be on holiday than for me to be at work! What I lack if the time off work to do it :-(

My needs are simple - a quiet canal to float on and enough spendos for food and drink. A tank of diesel will last a month and very little else to pay for.

Retire? Just as soon as there's enough to pay the bills for a while :-6

Yes, we moved back in January. The new house is lovely and so are the neighbours, Thank God! We moved to get away from the old neighbours who were foul!

I'm enjoying the school holidays too, although last night I dreamed I was back at school, sitting in a classroom and not having a clue what I was supposed to be doing! :-5

I guess I need to do some revision!

Next year I'm teaching a year 5/6 class and our topic for the term is Nelson Mandela.

Personally I think that is WAY too advanced a subject for 10 and 11 year olds, yet I have to teach it in a way which makes sense to them.

What do other people think?

Perhaps I should ask Spot for some advice.

How is your family Chezzie? Are you going away for the holidays? :-6

My family is great, hubs business is more steady so not as stressful, Im slowly coming to terms with missing my best mate Deb, I have her daughter often and she is so like her mum, you just have to be so grateful for what you have..

Yes we are planning a week away but when hubs isn't so busy and it like looks like a nice week (weather-wise)....Tall order, the kids want to go to a Haven type site, has to be able to accommodate the dog too..

My eldest just finished her first year in high school, im so very proud of her, she is in the top band and in the top sets, she got mostly 5's and a 6 in tests, the 6 was in Math, at the moment she wants to be a primary school teacher..

My youngest isn't so ambitious, she just about to enter her last year in Primary and wants to be a nail technician and a dog walker ...bless...

I just asked her if she knew who Nelsen Mandela was and she doesn't....Maybe they will cover it too this year.

Glad your happy in your new home Mel, great news..
