Today's Posts - this list is what I miss from the previous FG format

Post by AussiePam »

The "New Posts" button only gives you threads you haven't seen. We all have favourite threads, and if there is a new post by another poster on one of these it appears. However, as soon as the viewer responds the whole thread vanishes in the mist and can't be seen by the poster which means that we have to use the search facility to re-find the thread we want.

I would like to be able to see a thread I've posted in today, whether or not I'm the last poster. I may wish to add a second last-post or several last-posts.

As soon as I posted this, the thread vanished... and I had to search for it.

Maybe this is intentional - to stop any of us having any kind of running stream of consciousness - but it's a drop in user-friendliness, and that, for many of us, has been one of Forum Garden's stronger draw cards.

There's nothing that the old site could do that this one can't, it's just a matter of putting the right buttons onto the menu bar. Tombstone's first got to get all the facilities working cleanly and then we can niggle the twiddly bits like Today's Posts back into place. It'll be fine, honest. What you see at the moment are the release defaults, they're easy to adjust.

How Tombstone manages these major upgrades I can't imagine, either he flies it by the seat of his pants or he's got a checklist from earlier experience. I'm in awe either way. Getting it right while the entire membership's watching is more than I'd like to take on. He's a hero.

Tombstone flattens Pam with a vuvzela blow to the blonde psyche, and Spot races in to add a few bovver-boy kicks. Grin. Ah the joys of playing in the Garden. :D

Thanks, Tombstone!!

Didn't mean to flatten anyone's psyche! I was hoping you'd be pleased to see that our old "today's posts" was one of the first things back online.

Okay, first we have Tombstone asking Pam to look at his tools, then we have Spot telling Pam that Tombstone is going to niggle her twiddly bits. This forum is starting to ROCK. Carry on with erotic conversations. I'll stay tuned.:wah:
