Ey up me ducks !

Glad you all seemed to enjoy my 'Tarzan' tale :yh_rotfl Well we all need a laugh, don't we? You'll never believe it, but after yesterday's energetic exploits, my husband, that fella called Chris, has buggered off on a 15 + miles walk ffs! He's gone armed with lunch and fizzy pop, and his phone, oh and his bus pass :wah:

I just wish I could have gone with him :( Then he says when he gets back he'll take Rex for a walk in the woods !

Chris went for a freebie medical check last week. He had everything checked over, and at the end of it, the nurse sounded very disappointed when she said that there was nothing she could nag him about! His weight was good, his BP was good, his lungs were good, his heart was strong, his sample showed nothing untoward, but his blood sample will take a few more days for results to come in. He puts me to shame!

Glad you got some new furniture, Helen, and I like the idea you have a slave to sort it out for you, and as Jazzy says, you'll have to give it a test run (the bed that is!) :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl but be careful of that ankle of yours ;)

Chris took the bus into Nottingham, then another out to the outskirts to a place called Long Eaton, on the west side of the city (we live on the east side). Then he had his lunch. He walked along the Erewash Canal and then joined the banks of the River Trent, walking all the way back to Nottingham. As he was walking through the centre of the city to catch his bus to come back home, he saw a young lady (about 24-25 yrs) walking along with skin-coloured very tight-fitting leggings on, which apparently showed every curve and left nothing to the imagination. Chris was a little concerned that this was rather provocative, so after thinking about what he should do he approached the young woman and mentioned that he wasn't sure that she intended to show herself like that. She looked down at her legs "Sh!t, I've left my shorts at the gym!!" She immediately ran back from where she had come from, followed by the eyes of everybody on the pavement............. then they turned and looked at Chris, with puzzled expressions on their faces, some of the men had leery smiles (Chris thinks they were wondering what he had said to her, to make her dash away like that). :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl

It's all happening to Chris this week ! :wah:

I wonder what will happen tomorrow ! :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl I don't think I'll let him out of my sight ! :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl

evening all,

been a lovely day here again, just been out to the shops for a few odd bits, in my PROPER SHOES !!!! ( plus crutches )

for the last 3 days ive kept my foot elevated, done my excersises and suddenly it seems to be freeing itself up. most of the pain has gone, mind you, i did take pain killers and something called diclofenic, which is an anti inflamitary drug, so that obviously had something to do with it............

i really dont think that boot has been helping lately, it keeps my foot and leg rigid, which of course its supposed to, but its not allowing me to work the muscles and bend my foot as i walk so now i think im doing more harm than good.

just have to see what its like tomorrow....................

lucky old chris, must be great to walk for miles like that, and in this weather it makes it even better.

ive always loved walking, my girls always enjoyed it too and so did their children when they were small but things are different now with all these damn computor games and tv etc etc................. no one can be bothered with it anymore.............

Just take it steady, Helen, have you asked your surgeon if you are doing the right thing? It does take older people longer to heal (as opposed to teens or 20's), you poor owd woman :wah: Having said that, you seem to be doing very well and progressing nicely :-6:D

As regards Chris walking. He has always enjoyed walking, and I agree with him that you experience the countryside much better, and you can stop frequently and look closer at the wild flowers, the insects, admire a view, smell the country air with wafts of wild flower perfume carried on the breeze, the midden, the cowsh, the horsh, the sheepsh and not forgetting the pigsh ! :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl But I do miss going with him. :(

Ey up me ducks !

Hope you are all OK today........................... here's just a bit of silliness to bring a smile :yh_rotfl

New Alphabet A is for apple, and B is for boat, That used to be right, but now it won't float! Age before beauty is what we once said, But let's be a bit more realistic instead.

Now The

Alphabet:

A's for arthritis;

B's the bad back,

C's the chest pains, perhaps car-d-iac?

D is for dental decay and decline,

E is for eyesight, can't read that top line!

F is for fissures and fluid retention,

G is for gas which I'd rather not mention.

H high blood pressure--I'd rather it low;

I for incisions with scars you can show.

J is for joints, out of socket, won't mend,

K is for knees that crack when they bend.

L 's for libido, what happened to sex?

M is for memory, I forget what comes next.

N is neuralgia, in nerves way down low;

O is for osteo, bones that don't grow!

P for prescriptions, I have quite a few, just give me a pill and I'll be good as new!

Q is for queasy, is it fatal or flu?

R is for reflux, one meal turns to two.

S is for sleepless nights, counting my fears,

T is for Tinnitus; bells in my ears!

U is for urinary; troubles with flow;

V for vertigo, that's 'dizzy,' you know.

W for worry, now what's going 'round?

X is for X ray, and what might be found.

Y for another year I'm left here behind,

Z is for zest I still have-- in my mind!

I've survived all the symptoms, my body's deployed, and I'm keeping twenty-six doctors fully employed!

HAVE A GREAT DAY !

Good to see you pop in, Kathy, hope you're OK !

Aaaaah, I love German Shepherds - that pic could be my Rex as a youngster ! He was adopted by us when he was 8 years old (his human died), now Rex is 16 in October this year, bless his heart. He has a bit of arthritis, and his back legs are not quite as good as they used to be, but he still happily goes for walks every day (a bit slower of course), he loves his food (turkey, chicken no dark meat, oh and he loves tuna !), he is a very happy dog and loves his 'pack'.

Good Morning everyone!

You sound happy Helen, glad you did some shopping and got out in the sun, hopefully they will fix your signal soon.

Raining here today and tomorrow, it will do my grass some good and give me some rest from outdoor work, next I will scrap some paint off the garage and re paint it and cut down some long branches from a tree.

hope everyone is having a great day.:-6:-6

Ey up me ducks! good to see you back again Helen............ I expect you'll read this later, as I can hear the zizzing from here ! :yh_rotfl Ah, your Wally won't want to change his routine back to pre-ankle days, will he? He seems to be having sooooo much fun ;) :D You are really lucky being able to sit on benches and have such a lovely view to watch. I should think Odie, for instance, is stuck in a city surrounded by concrete, with maybe the occasional park for finding a bit of greenery. I'm not too badly off where I am. From my sitting room window I can see into 3 counties - Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire, with all the attendant fields, woods, river, hills, main roads, 18 wheelers, sewage works, you know the sort of things :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl

Any way I hope everybody has a good day, and takes things easy. It's quite hot where I am 75-77 F (23-25 C) so I'm staying out of the sun, mostly. There is very little breeze to temper the heat from the sun. We've got all the windows open and the fans are busy. Rex is perfectly comfortable, sprawled out on his bed, hogging one of the fans ! :-6 :D

Hello everyone!

Helen: I'm glad that you are doing well :guitarist Hope that dang signal thing gets sorted out for you. Wally is really going to miss the doggy day care. Maybe he'll be able to still go a few days a week? :-3

It's a beautiful day here for a change. The temp. is low 80 and there's a great breeze coming in the windows. I have a woodpecker that's in love with my metal mailbox :( He/she comes every morning at 5 am and pecks away on it. Gosh, the noise is enough to wake the dead. Now if I could only teach it to open the mailbox and fly away with my bills, I wouldn't mind the noise. :wah:

Hope you all are okay and enjoying your day :-4

the guy next door to me has just been in to see me, his last bill was £257.............. he works ar nite and he is also an agency care worker, can be sent anywhere in the country to work, which means he can be away for days at a time.............. the reason his bill was so high ???................ he leaves his sky tv on standby ................ Hes been told by the sky people not to turn it off at the mains cos it mucks the signal up...............

ive just phoned my estate agent to make sure im allowed to change my supplier and thats what i shall be doing first thing tomorrow........

im certainly not letting them get away with it........... i shall be going to the C A B next week, if i dont get any joy then i shall go to our local paper and then to our MP.......................

I cannot see any reason why someone has to leave their t.v. on, that's just crazy spending that much per month.

Hope your new supplies is cheaper, good luck Helen and let us know.

Good for you Helen. That can't be right about that guy's tv. Has he made enquiries with a good tv engineer about that? Sounds a bit iffy to me. When there is advice to turn off your 'stand-by' on your tv,radio, video etc. to conserve energy, it sounds ridiculous to have to leave the Sky stuff on standby - that can't be right! Besides, how the hell can his electricity cost mount up like that with just a standby left on? I heard that you could save £30 per year by switching off the standby of the tv, so how come the guy is paying all that lot? I take it, that is a bill for the quarter? If so he is paying over £80 per month! My electric costs (it's a key meter) half that much per month, and we have stairway lights on 24/7, a fridge/freezer, another fridge, tv, radio, computer, washing machine and occasionally a tumble drier, and I'm sure I've forgotten to mention something - oh yes, the security items (light and camera and monitor). Tell him to not settle for that reason, I think it's a load of bollocks.

So glad you are not letting yours lie. Don't let the buggers mess you about. That bill is absolutely scandalous. They should put a check meter in, then if there is any nicking of the electric by a third party, it will be discovered. Either that or your meter may be found to be running too fast, hence clocking up too many units. Also this other guy should have his meter checked. The whole thing smells to me.

Go to it Mrs. and don't take no for an answer. I would think that you should qualify for a rebate as well!

Ask CAB if there are rules concerning rented accomodation and accessibility to individual electric meters. Because I'm sure that the landlord should have the meters available to his tenants at any time. I'm sure they should be within the confines of the rented flat/room that they serve? CAB should be able to guide you about that. It could be that the landlord may have to foot the bill for altering the arrangement that exists at the moment - that the meters are all together within his private area! At least that is what I understand you to have told me any way. In any case, the arrangement as it is, is most unsatisfactory IMO, and lends itself to 'fiddling'. But then I'm a suspicious bugger innit ? :wah:

By the way, Helen, some while ago, locally, a woman got a huge electricity bill which she queried. Apparently a check meter was put in and her meter was found to be accurate. Further investigations (cos she didn't let up!), found that she was paying for all her street's lighting as well !!!!!!! So that's a thought as well!

OMG !!!

i know how bad that is but im afraid it did make me laugh..............perhaps this is what they mean by all the cuts theyve made in the budget today ;) get everyone to pay for a few street lights and cut down on the councils spending !!!:-2

i had the same thing with sky ages ago, if you turn it off they cant perform the updates on it.............

the guy next door is the same as me, no mod cons in his place so, even though i know leaving yer tv on stand by does cost something, it certainly dosnt cost that amount !!! i was told once its about £70 a YEAR !!!!

i often think if they baffle you with loads of " facts and figures " you back off as i know a lot of people do................. you think that these are people who run these companies so they know what they are talking about so you take their word for it and carry on paying !!!!

anyway im away to my bed now, ive had a busy day............. plus we had a wander round the boating lake tonite with a bag of bread to feed the ducks !!!

Ey up me ducks ! Hope all are OK..........................

I'm being nagged at by my hubby to trim his hair, but I am watching a historic Wimbledon record-breaking match between Lesner (USA) and Mahut. It's the 5th and final set (no tie breaks, they play till one has a two game lead). They've been playing for nearly 10 hours total, and it's games going with service. 60 - 60 at the moment !!!

The tv is concentrating on court 18!!!!!! The court is packed to over-flowing with the crowd, watching tennis history being made ! :guitarist:guitarist
