theia;1316432 wrote: Odie, my opinion is just that, my opinion. Nothing makes it more right or more wrong than anyone else's opinion.

That said, my opinion is that seeing FG's main page sometimes half full of "words that end in...words that start in etc" is irritating. Why? Well, for me, I don't find them interesting or in any way challenging and, for me, it makes FG look like a dull, word game forum dominated by just a couple of members.

My opinion on the rooms...I've never thought they were a good idea. I preferred it when members posted their conversations on a variety of threads, it seemed more sociable and inclusive.

However, just because I don't like these particular threads doesnt mean I want to see them removed. I would much prefer that the main page displays all the general threads, and that the rooms, word games are accessed separately.

And, just because a thread may be well subscribed doesn't make it popular if only the few same members constantly post there. It doesn't necessarily reflect an overall popularity.

But, Odie, as I said, that's just one opinion amongst many.

That is exactly what I mean, the Word's that start with games, and the Room threads are just not threads that FG want's to use to represent the overall atmosphere one should experience as a member nor should experience if they visit FG. Not to say that those other forums are not allowed as the rules for this site state on here, the first amendment is upheld, but this site is owned and the people that own it have the rights of ownership to decide which threads best present the atmosphere and experience they believe people on this site would enjoy as a majority.

so now we make assumptions based on the factless rumor mill and allow them to affect us rumors from a forum no less. I can think of no other example that is the personification of illogical and irrational. Why would do such rumors as what I only can deduct is what you mean when stating "by the sounds of it all" make you so distraught when:

1.) It is here say that can not be proven with any logical facts only stated that he said this she said that and have to take the word of this or that person that he or she said that which any reasonable person would find a very flawed process to aquire knowledge.

2.) It's on a forum on the internet The afore mentioned threads that I suspect have caused the most frustration with certain members are the Games and Room threads, which can be simulated on any social networking, chat room, a personal website, or another forum that allows more personalized, face paced threads with more variable thread subject randomness to occur.

3.) it is ultimately the decision of the websites moderators admins and ultimatley the owner to deem this or that thread unwanted, unneeded, and/or to controversial to be posted on this site. Regardless of what members think. That is not to say they just go deleting threads on the whim, the owner, admins, and owner of this site have a specific Idea of what atmosphere and experience would draw people to the site, and as such they would like to use threads that are examples of that atmosphere and experience people will feel here.

4) The afore mentioned threads are not deleted just moved from the front. The cause and effect process I can deduct happened is that certain members personal rooms or games were on the afore mentioned hot topic post when the post were taken off the hot topics views and replies to the Rooms and Games declined this in turn made the person who made the thread feel as if there opinion didn't mean as much because their thread wasn't in the limelight. This in my opinion shows a sense of selfishness that such hostile emotions will be aroused just because the removal of one's personal post or game for a post that is deemed by the owner and the people the owner has entrusted to run the site to be a topic that is more of what they want.

I think the communication difficulty is that Odie uses the word "suggested" where other people would use "implied". Once you get that worked out it all makes a bit more sense.

I don't think that's quite necessary! However, a "splurge gun" might relieve the tension without causing massive disruption..... see "Bugsy Malone".

Words are words - if in doubt, it's possible to ask for an explanation. Once you have that explanation, you can then look for consistency.

Another *free* helpful hint from Bill Sikes. I should put me 'at art.

I suppose an alternative is to use Standard English.

Factless rumor: It was suggested that the room and Word game threads are going to be taken off completely

Fact: It was suggested that the Word games and The Room threads be taken of the front page.
