I've noticed lately that we have had many posts regarding the US sports scene. So this thread is for anyone to express their views on the sport here in the UK.
So have a favourite football team?? Are you an avid cricket fan??
Or other views from our US or other country FG'ers. Do you follow any of our sports, or can u not stand them!!
Perhaps u have a view on the state of sport in the UK, both at professional or at a more younger level. Do u think that the 2012 olympics will do great things for our country, or is it a waste of money??

We just won the Ashes (I love cricket )
They said on the radio 71% of british people watched i think we are on the up when it comes to England and sport. Just wish the goverment would put more money towards improving things for the younger generation.
The Olympics can only be a good thing for the future of sport.

Bloody sick and tired of inflated wages and foreign imports and the fast form of pinball they call football. No wonder people don't want to go and see premiership games anymore, there's an allienating feeling for any homegrown player in the team and you will be bound to be short-changed from the hundred quid you need to spend, for just 90 minutes supposed entertainment. Bring back a minimum
wage for players, what do they care, they're still be earning lots than the average man or woman. Goodbye.

There's too many money orientated decisions made in the sports world. Sky is showing a lot of the big events....a lot of sport is hardly shown any more...what happened to show jumping, ice skating, athletics , swimming, hockey, ice hockey etc etc.
A lot of sport has become mundane now like F1....no overtaking etc...a bit boring to say the least.
I love ALL sport, but I want to see some competition.
As for football....overpaid prima donnas...and Wayne Rooney UGH..You can see better entertainment on the local recreation ground. The big clubs are charging too much for entrance fees and yesterday the Arsenal game was really poorly attended....:-5

Agree with that 100% Bez. I used to love F1, but now it really has gone downhill dramatically. And as far as Wayne Rooney goes, well the less said about him the better in my opinion!
I mean I love football (liverpool fan) but I do love to watch most other sports as well, but you are right, it's getting harder to find any of these sports being shown on Sky, let alone any other channels. All you see on Channel 4 is ugh horse racing, and the odd England cricket match. Sky do seem to be too focused on football than anything else, which is kinda unfair to other sports lovers.
And on prices for entrance fees, yeah it's getting out of control. I've been to 2 Liverpool home matches, over the last 2 consecutive years, and the price has already risen. People say at the moment that the game is getting boring, and with prices increasing it's no surprise that attendances are going down!!
