It's fun, I invite all my mates who happen to be English, Scots, Welsh and Irish and we have a grand 'ol pi$$ up and barb-b-que. The American flag flies and we ALL sing star bangled banner. (at the top of our voices) They share their holidays with me, so why wouldnt I celebrate mine with them? Holidays are a way of getting together for a booze up and friendly banter to help us forget the problems we share as a common humanity. :-6

And if this were the case, in this case, it sure as hell wouldn't be in the news, thread concluded

I don't think Raven throws people out of her parties because they wear the colors of their respective countries.

And you assume("Why?"? I have no idea) that I would throw people out of my parties if they simply wore their flag and colors is that it, YZGI?

Well to save even myself a bit of time, I throw instigating obnoxious twats out of my parties, thread concluded! :yh_rotfl

Look, K., I understand your point, I really do. Yeah, they all win the "bad timing" award. But it's still "freedom of expression" and even though it was obviously a little inflammatory, that's their right.

They should not have been punished for it andy more than you should punish someone for wearing a mexican shirt on July 4th.

K.Snyder;1309568 wrote: That quote is in reference to war that gives credence to one's right to wave a flag, BTS. Your premise is of "essential liberty" serving to signify the waving of a flag and your conclusion is backwards, the premise comes first. The "logical" conclusion is what's supposed to follow

:yh_flag"They that can give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

.....Benjamin Franklin:yh_flag

Look at the quote again K........

Then look at all your points.

ie: "Waving a flag during a state of peace insinuates the need for war.". ... "I said before and I'll say it again, I expect to minimize the risk for possible physical aggression."

You expect others to to give up their liberty to wave THEIR countries flag ANYTIME they want.

Now your double speak about some conclusion or whatever...save that for the edjumakated ones..... I'm just a poor white boy and speak in plain English.....

But at least I know your stand on the flag of your country and how you hate to see people waving it. thread concluded!

If you both understood my points this would be much easier. I agree with the freedom of expression. I disagree with using such freedom to be instigating twats. If the situation was divinely coincidental so be it. If not then I reiterate my lack of respect for such ignorant triviality.

I happen to know of people that live in a significantly "Mexican-American" populated area to know the consequences of their actions and not giving a damn one way or the other causing completely unnecessary physical aggression derived from a complete and utter brainwashed state.

"I said before and I'll say it again" a real American doesn't need to wave a flag because the use of it would have already served it's purpose. What "you" do when "you" wave "your" flags is illustrate just how imperfect "your" country is by suggesting it's use isn't finished. It's tacky and shows ones inability to remain civilized when the entire logic is applied to a lack of prejudice

Now, thread concluded

In light of the foregoing thread, would member conclude that this is a "freedom of expression" issue?

I am surprised she was suspended. They were studying racism. As bad as it is, the klan is a part of our history and a big part of our racist history. Better to get it out in the open and study it than to act like it never happened. She was making a movie with her students on the history of racism in America. The klan is part of that history.

Were you guys aware of how prevalent the confederate flag is displayed over here? I was shocked the first time I saw it, but it is displayed ALOT. Go figure. What are they trying to say?

It is probably not the confederate flag but a battle flag.

First flag of the Confederacy:

Given the history of Georgia, it's a bit like having students dress up like shooters, and walk around the school in Columbine. Sure, it's just a movie and they are going from set to set. Problem is, no one else knows that, do they?
