Hi Ned, welcome to Forum Garden! Enjoy your walk round all the lovely flower beds, but take no notice of Oscar as I think she has a 'thing' about Jimbo :yh_rotfl

My hubby would love an allotment ! There aren't any available that are reasonably near to where we live though grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. When we used to live in the country, in a small village at the edge of the Vale of Belvoir, our garden was big enough to grow some veg - potatoes, cauliflower, brussels, beans, radishes, lettuces. We both miss the good taste of 'home growns' particularly the potatoes!

Greetings. Do tell what is an allotment? Is that like an acerage here, a large plot of land with a dwelling on it and room for the deer and antelope to roam?

Do enjoy your stay here and have fun.

Cheers

Ohhhhh ok how very cool. I have a black thumb but like that others are into the garden experience.

Ok here we have back yards and people plant gardens. I have 3/4 of my back yard converted to a parking area... and the rest is grass. Neither grows anything ahahahaha

a allotment is like a plot of land you rent from the council .

its like a field divided up into say plots 20 ft long and 10 ft wide thats an allotment.

you rent this plot from the council and grow your own veg or flowers on it some keep chickens or horses or pigs.

some allotments are council and some private allotment holders associations usually attached to the local working mens club in northern coal mining towns.

thats north of watford away from those southern nancies.

p.s apologies to any southerners reading this

midlander..... never im originally a yorkshireman doncaster born and bred

speaking of warwickshire do you remember a childrens story about a girl called marmalade atkins she was purpotedly a warwickshire girl.

as for real warwickshire girls actress stephanie cole was from warwickshire

she played the black widow in open all hours with ronnie barker and david jasen ( made in doncaster) and starred alongside graham crowden in waiting for god.

im a wealth of useless infomation but know my actors

I think she was a fictional character. I know the girl who played her died very young...... My daughter dated a bloke from Doncaster.. He was a complete arse!
