Hello! From New York state

My name is Robyn, I live in Kingston, the first Capital before the British burned it during the Revolution. I'm sporadic in my visits to web sites, I keep pretty busy most of the time. And given the option of television or a good discussion on the web, I'll take the discussion. Not to0 much else to say outside of my bio. Looking forward to conversing with you all in the future.

G'day Rogyn. And welcome to Forum Garden. I'm from Sydney, Australia, but can say I'm a big fan of Kinsgton, NY. I have a girlfriend in Poughkeepsie and well the rest is the stuff of many legends, some fit to print. Grin. Another American friend I was travelling with got hositalised in Kingston, and to cut another long story short I learnt to drive a truck in your city, in the dark, in the snow, on the wrong side of the road... and yet I live to tell the tale. Kingston is a great town!!!

When did we last meet and greet a newbie who stayed? I think we should all examine our personal hygiene and ensure that the more rabid amongst us are properly muzzled when we have callers.

It's also maybe a catch 22. These days we appear to have a much smaller regular membership. We also seem to get a considerable number of spammers along with one-post-flybys. Consequently, many of us don't bother with newbies until they have proved they are actual people who do intend to stick around till they at least know whether they like the forum or not. If we do post and they go away anyway, we've wasted our greetings and may decide to hang back next time. If we hang back, they feel greetingless and go away...

Time to go to the beach...

I do once in a while strive towards nobility of spirit, Lon. Being charitable towards one's neighbour and not gossiping maliciously, cultivating a loving and giving attitude and expecting nothing in return separates the refined, civilised human being from the baser nature of the festering riff raff trailer trash, madding crowd.

I'm an Aussie - and already according to the BBC scitech study (see other thread) - a citizen, nay a denizen, of the most sinful nation on earth. So, there ya go. I'm already categorised a complete lowlife - will bells on, so politeness and free love are out of the question.

Very nice to hear from you AussiePam! Kingston is a great little city. I passed through here in 1968-70 while going to college and I said I would live here some day; some 15 years later this is where my wife is from. I cant say I have ever been to Australia, though. It sounds like you had quite an adventure while visiting here. When I was young and single I liked to go on adventures too. A friend of mine invited me to go to Canada with him for a two week fishing trip and I ended up staying for the whole summer. The owners of the camp had to almost drag me away in September because they were concerned I wouldn't make it through the winter by myself, the owners closed camp for the winter because of the huge snow storms.

Another time I went to Virginia Beach to visit my brother and ended staying there for almost a year. Except for being married to my wife I would have say those adventures were some of the best times of my life. Well, thanks for the message and I hope all is well in Aussieland.

I've just been reading all your FG posts, Elone - and it's great to have you here. Kingston is a beautiful city in a beautiful State. I've had a few visits in the Fall to the Catskills Mountains too. Awesome. We're in summer here now, and it's hot. I'm in the middle of Sydney, but lived for many years in Canberra, the capital of Australia, in the mountains. It's nice now to be able to have a dawn swim in the sea. My younger daughter does that each morning and I often join her. Gotta run, but look forward to returning to this thread. Take care.
