Ignore Question

I did a test with another member to see if this FAQ worked:

Can I block posts, emails and messages from specific users?

If there are particular members that bother you and you do not want to see their posts or receive Private Messages and Emails from them, then you can add these members to your 'Ignore List'.

The test failed and I'm wondering why :-3 I added them and they added me to the ignore list but yet we were able to send/receive PM's without any problem.

You can always go to "My Settings" and scroll down to "edit options."

Inside edit options, look for this:

You may limit the receipt of private messages to just moderators and your contacts. Other members who attempt to send messages to you will be told that you have disabled private messaging.

Check the box that states:

Receive Private Messages only from Contacts and Moderators

TS is working on upgrading FG's software. I'm sure the problem will be rectified once he's finished.

I get that ,,, but if you look to the right there is an option saying view this post, if you click on it you can view the post:wah: But i think as far as i know, if someone is on your ignore list, you cannot receive a pm from them!

If someone is on your ignore list....they cannot pm you.

they can however try and they can click send .....but the person does not receive it.

now I have noooooooo idea where it goes!:yh_rotfl

Well, if they are in your contact/friend list, even if you ignore their posts, and have the "Receive Private Messages only from Contacts and Moderators", you will receive PM's from them.

So, if you wish to completely ignore them, you have to make sure they are not in your contacts list.

I still can't quite get my head around the fact that within forum life some think everyone should get on. See it as a village, there's always the odd one, the grumpy old git, the away with the fairies one, the gossiper, etc etc.

Just walk on by (scroll on by) as you would within your village. :-6

This is the beginning of "I wonder who she's talking about?" Then the private messages are sent back and forth and then the gossip about particular people begins. Then that person feels they are being spoken about behind their backs and leaves the forum. Silly, very very petty and silly. This could have been kept between moderator and the person involved but NO.......We all have to know about it. .....

It's just started raining here. We need the rain. I still have the whole house to myself for another few hours so it's a good chance to relax, blare my kind of music and tackle the in tray of paperwork I've not touched since before Christmas. Then I shall go out, rain or not, and dance in it... rain is a bit of a novelty Down Under in summer.

Are you being serious, Fuzzy? As far as I am aware this is a thread about someone reacting to all the trouble by trying to work out how to put people on "ignore" and not get pms from them. If anyone's been got at here it has passed me by...

Stay innocent, Clodders. Some of us are born innocent, some have it thrust upon them.. some work hard to recapture that state of happy unknowing. Believe me, this kind of ignorance is bliss. I did try to deal with what I thought was the problem, logically - but of course Fuzzy is probably right.. there are so many hidden barbs, eggshells to crunch etc that it's best just to stay the f*&k out of any thread that might implode.

Threads liable to blow up in everyone's faces can usually be identified by looking at the number of posts and the number of views. More than a 1:10 ratio might mean ripples and ructions are not far.

Chicken soup is attached to this thread - for Clodders... laced with special smiling type herbs guaranteed to have you back swinging from the chandeliers in no time.

How did Streisand manage it? I would have thought she'd have sprayed the walls of the kitchen with soup and fragments of pasta. Personally, I wouldn't think this would be attractive, but with my dreadful record in this area, perhaps I should try singing "Woman in Love" while drinking Chicken and Tarragon soup with Chopped Liver next time I meet the love of my life?

Yep. Definitely worth a try.:)It has to be chicken livers mind you.....fried....chopped with hard boiled eggs and lightly fried onions and seasoning....best cold on maybe a bagel...no butter and heaven yep with the home made chicken soup;)

It really does sound like a fun evening we're all going to have, Clodhopper. I've heard people sing "I'm a Little Teapot" before, but the I'm a little wombat song - never. Funny, Carolly, that you should mention parsnips. I am fixing those for supper here.. the travellers will return then, and life with return to the usual merry chaos. The troops will get marinated beef ribs and baked vegies.. and broccoli. If I can't work my transmat beam and get across the Big Pond in time, I'll settle for a salmon tail... with fennel.

Still pouring here. I just got the ferry across to Circular Quay and wandered among the roosting bats, sopping young tourist couples wanting me to take their pics as they held hands, assorted ibises, kookaburras telling us it's raining - doh!!, damp sulphur crested cockatoos and happy ducks and moor hens in Sydney's Botanic Gardens.

I'll just fetch my nurse's syringe, Clodders, and give you a shot of something medicinal to make it all better and settle that naughty little tummy of yours. Turn over. Won't hurt a bit. Would I lie? And you'll be fit as a fiddle in the morning. Nightie night, Snookums!!
