John Lennon killed on this day-

Post by hoppy »

John Lennon was murdered 29 years ago today..

Christianity will go. It will vanish and shrink. I needn’t argue with that; I’m right and I will be proved right. We’re more popular than Jesus now; I don’t know which will go first — rock and roll or Christianity. Jesus was all right, but his disciples were thick and ordinary. It’s them twisting it that ruins it for me.

I can't believe it's 29 years ago

I think there's a film being released about his life

Yeah, I remember that day very well. I was out in the hills by a fire with a couple of my friends. Word came over the radio. We were totally stunned. Who would EVER want to kill a guy like that? To me, it was more of a watershed moment than JFK's assassination.:(

Sorry Buddy Holly, that was truly "the day the music died.":-1

speaking of which.......The guy who wrote American Pie reckons he'll only allow the true meanings of his words out once he's dead......He shouldn't say things like that , there are some very impatient people out there.

I was at a Maynard Ferguson concert. He got the word during intermission and made the announcement. He broke down crying.

Problem is, Chrisitainty is already dead, and people just don't realize it. Christians in the U.S. are front and center defending the most un-Christian actions conceivable. From attacking countries, to withholding health care. If Jesus came back, I firmly believe Christians would crucify him again, just like the Hebrews did. Because he ruffled too many feathers in organized religion (destroying the temple)

A large part of the reason Lennon was killed, was because of his statements about religion.

Hoppy, here you are implicitly defending the murder of a man who had an opinion you didn't like. Kinda proves the point, unfortunately.

Ya gotta admit too that many more people hit the streets in recognition of Lennon's death on the evening of it than took place after Jesus' death. Most of those folks ran and hid. I'll take my generation over theirs any day.

I guess jesus would rather spend eternity with mischievous liars who go around shedding innocent blood, hating, devising evil plots, and 'him who soweth discord among the brethren'? I sure don't want to even spend a moment in time with such people no less eternity. So I guess I'll be going in the other direction.

I prefer it m way, it means I'm accepting the responsibility of being a mature adult. Sometimes I faulter, but then I forgive myself too.

Give it a whirl, why don't you! !:)
