Putting Presents INSIDE the cake !

Post by Nomad »

Its my nephews b day soon. I was thinking it would be cool to put his present inside of the cake. If the present would likely melt then a hole would have to be cut out of the cake after its baked and then frosted over.

My wife thinks Im an idiot.

So my question is, am I an idiot or just too clever for her mind to comprehend?

Peter Lake is amazed at your Inventiveness and reccomends cutting a circle out of the middle of the cake. Insert the toy and use the part of the cake you have cut out as a 'lid' for the cake thus concealing the toy and using soft Icing to seal the edges.

It's too late to turn back now. You've invested too much time into it, besides... you've already been called an idiot, so now you MUST prove the critics wrong! :wah:

I'd make a box if you feel you need to seperate the cake from the present, but I'd make it edible (I've learned that lesson long ago!)... maybe gingerbread or something and "glue" it together with royal icing.

Don't be an idiot. Make the damn cake! :p

Cool, will the mini cake be frosted? The toy cake could have another cake inside like a Russian doll cake. That would be Unique.

I dont know what the present is. I dont know what these people are saying when they tell me to make a box made out of a cake to put inside the cake. I was thinking Id get something like a toy car or a book and put it in the cake.

Just forget it.

The mind is a terrible thing to waste. :wah: They (I'm assuming 'they' are the bakers in Louisiana) put little dolls in the Mardi Gras cakes, or King cakes, I think they are called.

I've never had a decent tasting King Cake. I was thinking it might be more like how back in the wild West where they baked a file in the cake and delivered it to the jail.

How about blowing up a balloon, putting it in a hole in the center of the cake, then covering it over with icing? When he cuts the cake, balloon explodes, blowing icing all over him. :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl
