Obama won the Nobel peace prize, (God knows why), and bombs the moon.
Maybe it's just his way of celebrating.

They had their own planet did they not? So long as they missed the iron chicken.
I've often thought if americans had had the magic roundabout and the clangers rather than batman and superman they might be a bit happier in themselves
Mind you captain pugwash and roger the cabin boy might have caused a few problems in the bible belt.:yh_rotfl

Well you never seem able to tell when someone is pulling your leg or when they are being serious. The lack of a well developed ability to know when someone is taking the **** suggests either a general unhappiness and sense of insecurity or a lack of practice. Or maybe just cultural differences. Stick around the British posters and you will get plenty of practice at having the mickey taken.

I've spent many years with my Irish and British friends who live in Ireland and do understand their sense of humor. I've had the mickey taken out of me many, many times.
Maybe I don't understand the sense of humor of some FG members...comes across as sarcasm not humor....like an underhanded slight....May be a cultural thing.....dunno....Don't ever feel this sarcasm from the Foc members...I know when they're taking the mickey...
I do feel though that I have the ability to note the difference between sarcasm and humor, and I am not unhappy or insecure. :-6 Maybe you should rethink your sense of humor/sarcasm.

And who said we're not happy in ourselves???
I'm sorry kathy but you seem to be completely incapable of spotting when someone might actually just be joking and seem to take offence at the most innocuous comments. Maybe you should stop assuming everybody is out to give offence.
On the other hand Maybe I am completely misreading your sense of humour and assume you are offended when actually you were not.
never mind chill out and watch the clangers dancing

Own up don't you wish you had cultural icons like the clangers?

I don't assume that everyone is trying to offend me...I get along with everyone in FG except for 2 members that I question and find sarcastic...how is that everyone:p

I think I just saw Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery bought all the rights to the Hummer. That'll be President Obama's fault too I expect.

Get Off Obama's Back ...second thoughts from Michael Moore | MichaelMoore.com
The Peace Prize historically has been given to those who have worked to throw off the yoke of racial discrimination and segregation (Martin Luther King, Jr., Desmond Tutu). I think the Nobel committee, in awarding Obama the prize, was also rewarding the fact that something profound had happened in a nation that was founded on racial genocide, built on racist slavery, and held back for a hundred-plus years by vestiges of hateful bigotry (which can still be found on display at teabagger rallies and daily talk radio). The fact that this one man could cause this seismic historical event to occur -- and to do so with such grace and humility, never succumbing to the bait, but still not backing down (yes, he asked to be sworn in as "Barack Hussein Obama"!) -- is more than reason enough he should be in Oslo to meet the King on December 10. Maybe he could take us along with him. 'Cause I also suspect the Nobel committee was tipping its hat to all of us -- we, the American people, had conquered some of our racism and did the truly unexpected. After seeing searing images of our black fellow citizens left to drown in New Orleans -- and poor whites seeing their own treated no better than the black man they had been raised to hate -- we had all seen enough. It was time for change.
It really was unexpected you know. It's a credit to your democracy-now if we could just sort out ours.:-5:-5

Mostly I think this reflects the relief around the world that the Yanks have elected a human being and we've seen the last of the chimp.
Sorting out the appalling mess the chimp left will take decades if it can be sorted at all. Just as one example: the eight wasted years are irrecoverable and may be crucial in terms of climate change.

No nor bush's nor was it a failure of capitalism but rather a failure to keep to a capitalist economy.
Wall Street Run Amok: Why Harvard's to Blame - BusinessWeek
Monetarism is to blame and for us in the UK as well. remember dear old maggie selling off all our industry? We forgot the basic principle of capitalism that wealth comes through making and doing things not just moving money around. a service economy needs something to service and that is industry. We let number crunchers take control and shut out the dreamers and the engineers and let accountants make decisions people make things not accontants. We also forgot that other cornerstone of capitalism that you need controls to prevent monopolies and cartels getting a grip and you can't trust people not to be greedy- Greed isn't good it's destructive.
Don't worry hoppy good old fashioned liberal capitalism will save america:sneaky:
I have seen it suggested that the soup dragon was involved in a lesbian relationship with the iron chicken. But I don't believe that.
