Caravans

Woo Hoo, almost forgot, wifey and i are off to Cornwall tomorrow, gonna look at buying a static caravan on some nice coastal site somewhere. Cant be doing with towing and all that jazz. Need to find somewhere to spend weekends and relax, read in peace and quiet with nothing but the sound of the ocean for company.

Might take a few weeks but i am sure we will find the right one soon.

Drove to Looe and Polperro first today, not very exciting.

Got shown around a right old dump of a van, feigned slight interest then scarpered quick.

Then drove across to Harlyn sands, found one that we really liked on Higher Harlyn Park, very clean and modern site. Heated outdoor pool, bar etc.

We agreed a price for the caravan with the owner but have to contact the site owner tomorrow to see if we can have a pitch on the site, like gold dust apparently. The owner said there was a waiting list but because the caravan is already there they should let us keep it there.:-6

If the owner says yes we will buy the caravan.

What a lovely area Barman. I do hope you'll buy there and enjoy the peace.

My friend's Mom and Dad walked the coast of Cornwall and loved every minute of it. Someday I may do that and I'll stop in for a drink at your place, ok:-6 I'll bring snacks:p

I know you probably would but read the small print about site maintenance charges. We went through the same decision process but realised potentially we were looking at £100-£200 a month in charges with the landowner able to increase them almost at will. Eventually we just started putting a tourer on a site for a couple of months at a time-we found a site that did seasonal lets for £90 pm so we'd book on for three over christmas and new year. We did so for ten years or so. The same site also had statics and log cabins for sale. Glad we didn't buy one as you do get eventually get fed up going to the same place and they started putting their prices up and forcing others like ourselves- some of whom had been leaving their caravans all year round- off the site as with caravanning growing in popularity they fill the spaces where before it was a bit hit or miss.

The fees are very reasonable, £1200 a season including electricity, gas and water.

No hidden charges at all.

We have now bought and paid for the caravan but what a bliddy rigmarole.

Firstly we ended up back at Looe cos the sods at Harlyn would not let us keep the caravan on the site once we had bought it. So we basically said shove the caravan where the sun don't shine, no not Wales:wah:

We heard of a caravan on a site at Looe where the pitch was included, we scooted on down and was quite surprised cos the van was small but very pleasant with an attached awning, big enough to sleep 5, only 2 of us so no problem.

We made an offer which was accepted, paid the chaps and grinned all the way home, we got it for a steal. The site fees are due 1st November and they couldn't afford them (£1800), so they decided to get rid of the caravan, they were happy we were happier.

The park is called "Tregoad Park".

Has a pool, bar etc. More important it is set in 55 acres and by the sea, it is ours, signed.

We didn't realise before, but getting the pitch is more important than getting the caravan, all sites have a waiting list, we were lucky, well that and a bit of smooth talking, bullshitting to be honest.:wah:

The pitch is the plot of land that the caravan sits on:) You also get a few yards around the caravan to stick tables, chairs, park the car etc.

Once you have the pitch you are laughing, there is a waiting list just about everywhere you go, we just happened to strike it lucky.
