I read that as 'shirts' - must have the vanishing tee shirts on the brain now.

My grandmother had an old copper boiler in her garage to my grandfather's shirts every Monday washing day. A rather nice triggered memory - like one of Mr Proust's famous madeleine cakes.

Food as a memory trigger. Whodathunk where boiled shift keys can lead????

That brought back memories of my dads old mangle outside the back door.

Used to chuck the sheets through that thing, hang em on the line and then straight back on the beds. Good old days my arse:yh_rotfl

My first flat - we got it for a song and feeding our landlady's canaris - was attached to the back of an old house in Canberra, and there was only hot water from one small water heater located in the bathroom. I used to bucket water into the kitchen for washing up, but gave up on the washing machine which you had to fill by pumping a hose then using washboard and mangle. After working parliamentary hours all week, I didn't need to be spending the whole of the weekend washing. I found a laundrette!!!!! A drop off and collect laundrette. Hallelujah.

I don't think anyone's called me a lazy bitch before. Or even either half of it !!! It's an interesting concept. And something I've been trying very hard of late to work towards. Or rather not to work on at all..... Thanks Bruv. I'll take it as a compliment!!
