RDA guidelines.
Does anyone here follow the recommended daily allowances for the food groups? I am really trying to get my RDA's for each food group since I am preggers and was wondering if anyone had any tips. I find that either I am usually way high on my fruit and grain servings and low on my vegis and milks.
So if anyone has a lot of expierence on this or needs some help too... post it up.

I have all the information on the program. I have been doing it for a while. Just lookin for someone who might be doing it as well. If your intrested though I can give you some good sites.

RDA guidelines.
I'm preggers too (and a TN girl myself as well
) and no, I've yet to find the perfect balance to be honest. I'm such a picky eater it doesn't really help matters much. However, I do really like the Bolthouse juices. My favorite is the Green Goddess... you totally have to overlook the appearance though cuz it looks straight up like some sludge! It's yummy though trust me.. it has kind of a kiwi/apple flavor but it has everything from kiwi's and apples to broccoli and spinach. I swear by it though, it's a great substitute for individual servings of fruits and veggies... if my memory serves correctly without me havin to run to the fridge to check the bottle, it's equivalent to like 8 and 1/3 servings packed into one.
Others I like are the C-Boost (citrus), the pear one (although it's a bit grainy), the vanilla soy (protein), hmmmmmmm, oh, the strawberry banana one is really good too - put it in a blender with a few ice chunks and it's just like a milkshake. Honestly I can't think of one in particular I don't like. There are around 10 different flavors.
As for dairy, I'm lactose intollerant when it comes to straight milk so I drink Silk soy milk, regular and sometimes the chocolate. I loooooove me some cheese though! For whatever reason it doesn't bother me like milk
but I ain't complainin! I would not survive without shredded cheddar cheese

I eat cheese, but I guess I am just not eating enough of it. Its just really hard. I feel like I eat ALL day. Then I do the totals and its like WTF I still need 2 glasses of milk and a serving of vegies!
I will have to check out those supplements. Are they really high in calorie (I know make you think about it). I know most juices are high calorie so I imagine those would be too.
Speaking of milk, I think I will go eat some cheese!

To be honest with ya I don't know squat about counting calories but I googled and found this site that states there are 140 per 8 oz. serving. Is that high? :wah: I'm calorie-ignorant..

Its about average for a juice. Really though you -should- avoid drinking your calories. Though if it is supposed to supplement something maybe thats different.

Yes Pizza calories are their own alotment. Its seperate from the regular calories...
No the only diff between eating and drinking is usually when your drinking your calories it is a nonnutritious way to get your caloric intake. Juices tend to be high in sugar and low in nutrients, or people get 120 cals from 12 oz of soda. Thats about as nutritious as cardboard. I am sure if you make a fruit smoothie its different then having a soda....

I was joking about the pizza, I know it's not the healthiest choice but I refused to cook tonight and nobody else was gonna :rolleyes:

I wasn't! I love pizza. Its got its own food group for me...
I have no strategy for later.... it is one of those burn that bridge when we get there kind of things.
