Has anyone ever demanded that you make a public apology?
Have you ever been in a situation where you behaved so badly, you were told you had to make a public apology to the people you have offended?
Maybe your boss has asked you to apologise to work colleagues or has some-one had to apologise to you?
Has some-one's behaviour been so disgusting that you refused their apology?

Nope, although I am waiting for the grandmother of one of my students to make her apology to me-she screamed and yelled and threatened me in front of other teachers for 15-20 minutes they let this go on, said she would apologize if she was wrong about her granddaughter. Well guess what, she was. As soon as that student was put into another class, she was suspended within 3 weeks. Did I receive an apology? No. Guess who's on my class list for next year!

I had an apology very recently by formal letter and we were tempted to frame it and put it on the wall:wah:

No, I don't need it in my job, but I need the job. I am going to ask when I return in a few weeks that her class be changed.
7 more years. I am so restricted by the home situation I cannot go elsewhere, I turned down an offer for an interview at a nice private college here last week. I need the normal retirement without a job change right now, will take a small position somewhere in a quiet little college for a class or two when I retire. (or the Smithsonian one, that would be a lovely place to putter fora decade or so, small pay wouldn't matter, I would have a pension already) That one I think of alot, it will make the decision whether to return to L.A. or not, and probably I would opt for family.
Oh, back on topic about apologies.....................

Yeah, in my younger days. These days, I don't have to apologize anymore. I blame my bad behaviour on my age. Most of the time, it works.

I try to treat people the way I want to be treated so no, I've never been in the situation where I was asked to make a public apology. If I thought an apology was deserved, I would though.
There is one person that if he apologized, I'd tell him to eat sh!t and die. :wah:

Yes, family comes first always. I used to be very money minded, always chasing targets but after our illnesses, it puts life into perspective now although I am on the brink of, let's say, a major career change which is going to be very exciting.

We all screw up Hops but the difference is being man enough to face up to it and apologise. Sometimes we don't realise that we have offended some-one until they point it out. then there are others who know what an arsse=hole they are but just make excuses.
I'm getting older now so I'll use your excuse :wah: My husband has been using it for years:wah:

My behavior has always been above reproach and impeccable therefore never requiring any form of apology.

No nor have I but I think I'd be humiliated beyond words if I was told to.
I have had to apologise on here before when I've been wrong but not Publically.

Good for you !!! I will always apologise if it's warrented or I have offended some-one un-intentionally but I will not just apologise to make some-one feel good or to make the situation go away.
When bosses demanded you apologise, It's usually nothing more than a public relations exercise and the apology is not heart-felt in the slightest.

:D Do you know what? I have just remembered something! I did have to publicly apologise once and I totally forgot about It. When I was about 8 yrs old I decided to take my mum home some flowers. Problem was I picked them out of some-one's garden. My dad marched me round there trembling and made me apologise to the neighbour and then he gave them my pocket money

Has anyone ever demanded that you make a public apology?
Had a situation a few months ago where a friend misunderstood my reaction to his story, blew a fuse bigtime and vanished in a cloud of profanity. Then I got an email from him demanding an apology that would be, in effect, public. Since I felt I was the injured innocent in the case I was very upset and angry, but after I cooled down and chatted to a mutual friend I apologised to him for upsetting him and he then spontaneously apologised to me for misunderstanding and over-reacting.
Issue resolved.
As the mutual friend said, pride is a sin.

The crowd: "Yes! We are all individuals!"
Lone voice: "I'm not."
