Car Jacking Suspect Captured
Police say Matthew Nash stole van in Virginia Beach with child inside.
Police say the girl's mother was pumping gas at a 7-11 on South Witchduck Road when a man pushed the woman away, got into the minivan and drove toward Norfolk.
Police say the child was in her car seat at the time.
Syracuse Police first spotted Matthew R. Nash driving the Hilel's stolen minivan at approximately10:30pm, but were unable to pull him over. A short time later a Sherriff's Lieutenant also spotted and pursued Nash but was forced to abandon the chase due to Nash's reckless driving excessive speed.
The van was later found abandoned and police and a sheriff's helicopter located Nash at about 4:40 am in a wooded area about a mile away.
VA Beach police confirm one-year-old Naomi Hilel has been found. She was found all alone in a Newport News parking lot and has since been reunited with her family.
