That is good news leg injuries are very serious business. Having your legs crushed is life threatening and requires many surgeries and years of physical therapy. I hope he recovers fully in time. :-6
ALOHA!!

MOTTO TO LIVE BY:

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming.

WOO HOO!!, what a ride!!!"

Thanks Carla. The fermeral arteries in the leg is the main concern with leg injuries i think.

This is such a tragedy that has happened to your brother Oscar. All of my best wishes are with you and family tonight. I can't even imagine the pain he feels with the horse falling on him.:(

He'll be okay, Oscar. If he's like me, (sounds like he is with the

stubborn part of it!) he'll come through alright...

I got my leg smashed last fall by a 17 hand 1200 pounder...

no broken bones but LOTS of soft tissue damage from hip

to big toe... and this where she came down with a hoof

(thankfully unshod) on my left bicep:

So, hang in there. Get your brother to thank his lucky stars

it wasn't much, much worse!!

Give him my best from one horse crash survivor to another!

:yh_flower Thankyou Valerie and good to see you posting again. I have just got home from seeing him and it looks like like he'll be in hospital for some time. He's furious !!! :wah: Also he's very high on morphine. The horse has been pulled from running tomorrow just to be on the safe side also.

As you said, it could have been far far worse. They were in 'race' speed when he took the jump so she landed on him with a heck of a wallop. I dread to think if she had come down on full body. It could have been broken neck or spine so we should be thankful it was just the legs. As you said, the hooves are the killers. I didn't want to come home to be honest but i'm going back for a full week in the next week.

Thankyou again. :-6
