Famous lines...

Post by valerie »

So I'm hoping somebody can help me 'cause I'm getting

kinda worried about myself...

Coupla days ago on my walk for some reason a line from

either famous literature or a famous poem popped into

my head, and I can't remember what it was. It's

buggin' the heck outta me.

I know it's NOT: "It was the best of times, it was the

worst of times..." from Tale of Two Cities. It's NOT:"By

the shores of Gitche Gumee by the sparkling gulf

stream waters..." from Hiawatha.

Can anyone think of something you learned in school that

would maybe be it?

There are so many famous lines you might have to give us a hint. What was the nature of the concept? Was a describing a feeling, a situation or a hat?

"This is the very coinage of his brain." Hamlet

I think it might have something to do with Nature.. I walk next to this pretty

creek with trees and birds and the fall leaves to kick through... but that

is the best I can do!

You make me laugh, you sound JUST like my husband!!

Don't worry, if/when it pops in again I'll write it down. (Always carry pen

and paper with me but somehow didn't think I'd need to remember that!)

Just like your husband huh? Just don't ask me if your new hat makes you look fat or if the lamb chops were tough. :D

Nature poems? I'm gonna guess Walt Whitman

"Now give me the splendid smiling sun, with all his beams full-dazzling."

"Keep your face always toward the sunshine - and shadows will fall behind you."

I love that but no, that wasn't it. I'm going to end the suspense, though,

'cause late last night I remembered it! At first, all that kept going through

was "It was a dark and stormy night" LOL...

But there must be at least a bit of gray matter left up there after all.

Under a spreading chestnut-tree

The village smithy stands;

The smith, a mighty man is he,

with large and sinewy hands.

And the muscles of his brawny arms

Are strong as iron bands.

-Longfellow

Whoo-hoo and YIPPEE!!

Ah well, I guessed wrong. But it was fun anyway!

Maybe you could go slightly mad again, Valerie, and we can have more guessing games. :wah: I'm just kidding.

near future... knowing me... :o

Can you imagine suddenly thinking "Rosebud" from Citizen Kane, then going crazy all day trying to think of why you thought of that?

EXACTLY!! You get it!! What a relief!!

I think part of my worry is my Mom having Alzheimer's... every time I can't

think of something I wonder if it's beginning.

That's why it feels soooo good to remember!!

If you wonder whether you are crazy or not you are probably not. ;)

Memory is a tricky thing, we remember what we want to, what we need to and what is most important at the time, we forget what we want to, what we need to and what is not important at the time.

PS try not to expect hereditary health concerns, it increases the chances of it happening.

Now, why did I think of "Rosebud"????? :-6
