What's happening to FG?

Post by Kathy Ellen »

Geeze, What's happening to our Forum Garden:confused: I logged on this morning and there were only 3 members here.

Seems like we're in a slump:(

Can we do anything to bring some spark and fun back to Forum Garden again?

well im pretty happy:thinking: if others are not happy,,, well i dunno i suppose its up to them which way they deal with stuff,, depending on why they are not happy,, or why a forum is not fulfilling their need any longer,,, some people i think just eventually get bored, and wander off,, some decide they are spending too long online or even get in trouble with partners for spending too much time here,so decide to give more time to real life, some have problems or real life takes over giving them hardly any time or no time at all for forum fun!

Maybe we should give more time to newcomers to try and get them to join in more ,, that puzzles me,, why people join, make an intro thread then dissappear:confused:

You know though ,, i think some people also get annoyed or upset at some discussions that go on here,, and i must admit i have done that sometimes:thinking: but i try to remember we are all different people with different views, and sometimes you just have to respect that someone has a different view to you and its matterless who is right or wrong,, or even if there is a right or wrong.. its just a personal viewpoint:-2 Like the make up thread ,, i have been wacthing that,, and contributing as you have also Kathy,,, and i have quite enjoyed the discussion, and finding out what different people think about it ,, it helps you to get to know a person in my opinion:) and sometimes im sure people think im being sarastic when i ask certain questions,, when really im asking cos i am just interested to know,, to find out what that person thinks:thinking: do you kow what i mean? or am i just rambling on like an idiot:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl

No, its too late. Its all washed up on the shore like a beached whale twitching, drying out, little spittles of water dripping from its blow hole, bloating in the sun, worms, birds, night creatues pecking away at its rotting flesh.

Recently I returned after an absence and wondered the same thing. The same topics keep getting rehashed over and over. SOMEONE, start some new stuff.

Some other boards are pretty lively. I don't know why. Some are as restrictive or more so than this one. It's up to those still here to kick start this board again. there. I did my share of b******g. :-5

perhaps it's because it's spring, more folks are away from their computers

perhaps people are in a personal slump due to the economy

perhaps people get tired of topics either falling by the wayside, or getting railroaded off topic...

I am not really sure, it does seem quiet. But I think that is a cycle of sorts.

I think it has to do with the weather being so nice, everyone is out and about, buying things for the season, also doing their gardens.

plus when its nice out, everyone wants to be outside, as winter everyone is stuck inside when its cold.

As long as there are crazy folks like us who come to post, Forum Garden is not beached on the shore. like a twitching whale.

Oh, that's so good to hear Odie. Unfortunately, I can't post during the day as I'm working. I pop in to FG in the morning for a few minutes before work and for a bit at night. I'm usually here on weekends.

Oh I know you work kathy, see the weekends here are quiet as everyone is out, or having company......etc.

weekdays are the best time..........even for UKers, just being 5 hours ahead of you and I........all of us post together.

4. go inside

5. sun comes back out

6. go back outside

7. rains again

8. go back inside

I think this is a large part of it. More things to do when the weather is nice. School will be out soon and the kidletts are home. Not as much free time to spend on the puter.

Well, I haven't been a member for long but for me, it is my work hours. I can spend a bit of time in the mornings and then again after 11pm. Rarely do I find anyone here after 11 so I just reply to what has been posted. I would start new threads but I really don't have much of an exciting life to start one with. Hard to come up with a subject that everyone would find of interest.

-as I said earlier, its because the weather now so nice, everyone is out and enjoying and why not...........winters are brutal and were stuck inside.

also, people are now out tending their gardens and planting their vegges etc.

weekends also are also are slow........people doing their shopping, chores, housework, visiting family and friends.

The Odds are in your favor, if you want rain you are coming to the right place.

Funny though, I will be in California in July, can’t wait for some of that unbearable heat.

If you were coming to Philly you would not only have unbearable heat but the humidity as well. It's abs disgusting here in July/August. We'll be on the East coast or Ireland in about 2 1/2 weeks...what should I pack?

Thanks for the thought of rain, mikeinie. Coming to CA., huh? What part? I'll be in the Sierras & Monterey the first part of July. Should be nice.

Qsducks, I Know what you mean about humidity. I lived in Pittsburgh (go Steelers!) for 18 years. It was odd if it didn't rain and spoil your picnic. But you learned to compensate.

I tend to agree with you here a bit Buttercup....Yes, when there's a good argument with members stomping their feet and slamming doors, many members are here posting away taking sides or ignoring it. I think that we've seen quite a few doors slamming, haven't we:wah:

But when things are "mundane and feel-good threads," they are many times ignored. I think that puts some people off as they may feel that no one likes their threads after all of the work that they may have put into it.

Guess it's just different strokes for different folks. I enjoy reading most of the threads except for the Religious, Political and Philosophy threads. No offense to anyone, but they don't interest me to discuss on an open board due to the arguments or heated discussions that arise. I do like to discuss those issue in real life thought with close friends. Then again, what one sees as a heated discussion is a great, lively discussion for others:-6

I also think that so many members are busy with real life. If they log onto FG then they are here for hours and don't get any real life issues completed:rolleyes:....like me...right now...not getting my school work done:(

Thanks everyone so much for answering my question....I appreciate your thoughts:p;):D
