Dad killed in M5 crash - killed by his 7 year old

Post by chrisb84uk »

I thought some people might like to read this story from today's Worcester paper.

'A father of three who let his seven year son David drive his car at 75mph was killed when it crashed on the M5 motorway.

The youngster, and his two elder brothers who were in the back, miraculously escaped serious harm.

The seven year old had been driving from the passenge seat, with his fathers hand just resting on the wheel, when the car hit an object, believed to be a rock or animal, went out of control and hurtled over an embankment into a tree.

The father died from massive head injuries. His doctor said he had became increasingly depressed and threatened to commit suicide on regular attempts.

Police interviews with the 2 boys admitted that David had been allowed several times to drive by his father. One of the sons recalled his father saying to David, "Do you want to help me? Do you want to help me change lanes?"

The son recalls how he told his father not to let his younger brother drive as it was dangerous, however his father replied, "Don't be stupid, it will be fine."

Must admit I am speechless after reading this article.

Read this in the Nationals, how very sad for the children.

Thankfully they were unharmed.

This is the stuff that makes me not want kids. I get so furious when I see parents putting their kids at risk...but who knows. Maybe the dad thought it was a game. Maybe he thought he was being the "cool" dad. Then BAM!

His seven year old's going to grow up and have some massive guilt complex all because his dad wasn't being responsible.

Grrrrrr.

You're right this kind of news really does make you get mad when you hear about it. Can you imagine had it been the other way and the child died and parent survived?
