Michael Martin has to go

Post by Snowfire »

Given his rabid determination for the current expenses of MPs not to be made public, is it time for Michael Martin, the Speaker of the House of Commons to stand down, or should he be sacked.

His angry tirade at MPs, during a session yersterday highlighted just how out iof touch with public opinion he is. While every member and his dog is clamouring to apollogise over the scandal and write out a cheque, he is till refusing to budge, a year after first being asked to look at MPs expenses.

The Speakers job has always been one of mutual respect across the parties but I think he has dragged the role through the mire with his actions.

Lord Tonypandy will be turning in his grave

I also read that it has been suggested he might recieve a peerage if he resigns. That would just shove the sh!t further up our noses

Michael Martin, the Commons Speaker, will face a motion of no confidence as early as this week as the campaign to have him replaced wins support from MPs.

I actually agreed with Ken Livingston, who said today on tv that he shouldn't have got the position, it should have been Gwyneth Dunwoody.

Seeing as it is relevant, I'd hate to see this missed. My anger is as great as when I started the thread and I'm still waiting for them to kick his arse out of the House
