I cannot say Bryn, it was a British mandate territory, you tell me?

Strictly speaking they weren't trying to destroy iran and their people just take their oil. It was us taking it or the russians The rules of the great game changed as did the players.

(suggesting that treatment of Israeli aqrabs is the same as for some people in the UK)

Galbally;1181248 wrote: No, I didn't suggest that, you are simply implying that I did.

Your words actually *said* it, it was none of my implication. I am happy that you do not in fact mean what you said.

So two wrongs make a right, and the situation of people in Israel is acceptable? I do not agree with you.

I don't know, I have never heard such a thing. Talk about perpetuating a stereotype!

You are perfectly entitled to your opinion, and you may be right and I may be wrong.

Also if I recall correctly, this thread was actually about the President of Iran and his "comments" in a speech in the UN in Geneva, not Israeli housing policy, so there you go.

All I know is the solution is to isolate and render the combatants to a state of existance where peace is preferable to the present situation.

Even then the nutjobs on both sides will still be at one anothers throats.

Enough. I'm outta here.

I do agree with you on your general point, I don't know how you bring them to peace, but like you said we all get into loggerheads on it. Of course I think that the Palestinians have been put into a terrible situation by Israel, I just don't do the anti-Israel thing.

I think your right, the civilized thing to do is leave it, there isn't going to be much chance of us lot sorting this all out, I have made my points and its not my intention to annoy people with my opinion, its just my opinion that's all. Everyone has an equally valid one in that none of us are Israelis or Palestinians so we're taking about a situation we are not directly involved in.

UN inquiry criticises Israel over Gaza raids - Telegraph

"A United Nations inquiry has blamed Israel for six serious attacks on UN buildings during its Gaza offensive, drawing fury from Israeli officials who accused the UN body of bias"

Oh well.

Oh, I don't know... from the same paper:

Israel must accept Palestinian state, Joe Biden says - Telegraph

"Vice-President Joe Biden placed America on a collision course with Israel on Tuesday, urging the new government to accept the goal of a Palestinian state and stop expanding Jewish settlements on occupied land.

Mr Biden used an address to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee – the leading pro-Israeli lobby group in the United States – to deliver a tough message to Benjamin Netanyahu, the country's new prime minister.

Israel has to work for a two-state solution," said Mr Biden. "You're not going to like my saying this, but not build more settlements, dismantle existing outposts and allow Palestinians freedom of movement."

If they accepted it was occupied land then we have made progress!

To freedom of movement I'd add access to resources.

Yes.

"In six of the nine incidents, the board concluded that the death, injuries and damage involved were caused by military actions, using munitions launched or dropped from the air or fired from the ground, by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF)," the report said.

A seventh less serious incident was also blamed on Israeli light arm fire during the 22-day December-January offensive, while the eighth was attributed to a Palestinian faction, probably Hamas.

The probe by the United Nations Headquarters Board of Inquiry however could not determine who was to blame for the ninth incident."

So, Israelis, 7/9. Hamas (probably), 1/9. Unknown attackers, 1/9.
